I have no idea if entries are still being taken, sorry Daniel.
Best bet would be to call Nathan on 0438 770 087, he will know.

Some other links of potential interest...

Hi ACog,
only if they cheer!

Of course everyone is encouraged go come along and checkout the two days of comps.  There is usally a coffee cart setup and all the baristas jump on the cart after their heats, its a great chance to try some competition coffee made by the best in the state.

I'm hoping to get there on Sunday, come and say g'day.

Does anyone know the full line up of competitors?

I'd love to know, I'm stuck at work all weekend.

Hey Kids,

14 competitors, 6 qualified for a rockin' finals tomorrow and quite polished performances all around.

Latte art is always a good one and there are no shortage of heavy-hitters competing tomorrow.

Great MCing by David S - I hear that tomorrow he's going to have a rap throwdown with Nolan on the decks.  Or maybe not.

From memory, the finalists are, in no particular order:

Simon - Michel's
Nolan - Liar Liar
Taylor - BBB
Jesse - Dancing Goat
Zoe - Coffee Hit
Caleb - Five Senses

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be there tomorrow (probably should have studied rather than judged today) but hope that everyone has fun and I'm sure that it'll be great.

Cheers,

Luca

Thanks for judging today Luca.  I know how heavy your study workload is, and your palate sure copped a workout today (I think we had a pool of 7 judges in total with only 5 able to swing through tech and sensory for 14 competitors).  In fact a big thanks to all of the judges and volunteers who are making it possible to compete this weekend.  David Makin has done a huge amount of the organising, and has done an amazing job pulling it all together with very few resources.

Cheers,
Simon.

Great stuff Luca, thanks for posting the results so far, I had to work today (just got home) but I'll be there tomorrow... tag teams!

Well done Simon, we all knew you would romp it into the final and  big congrats to CoffeeSnobs site sponsor Zoe at Coffee Hit, great to see you get up to speed so quickly.

I'll look forward to seeing everyone compete in the finals and will try and shoot a few pics for this thread so CS'rs interstate can have a look too.

...just don't expect photo's of Sid's quality.

DJ Mick was on hand to mix some tunes and Debb entered the scores...

...

Zoe from Coffee Hit (CoffeeSnobs site sponsor) using a blend that she and David put together (El Salvador and Honduras I think)  which was roasted by David Makin.
(I can see a potential demarcation dispute with Australia's current Barista champion ROASTING coffee!)
Wink

...

Zoe doses the next shot while previous pour oozes...

...

Zoe's signature drink was reduced muscatel grapes, poured over an espresso shot and about 50ml of sparkling mineral water added just before the judges try it (to give bubbles).

...

I REALLY want to try this one.  Simple and I assume a great explosion of coffee and fruit cake flavours.

...

The judges in shot are: The Vic cupping champ Tom, CoffeeSnob Nim, Mel from the Coffee Academy and Jeff from Da Vinci

CoffeeSnob Simon uses his secret weapon to pull great shots... mental telepathy!

...

In shot is CS'r David Seng's grinder timer and a really cool looking Aussie designed and made tamper.
Wink

...

Great looking pours...

...

Simon's coffee cheese cake sig drink.  It sounded and looked great!

Talor from BBB had her first shot at the comp and made the finals, nice work!

...

The pour oozes into the cap cups...

...

Dosing is a blur in competition...

...

Milk and pour...
...

Industry dedication in ink.
Talor has an awesome coffee tattoo with flowers, leaves and cherry on her leg.  Nice art Talor, and we thought we were dedcated to the bean!
