BeanBay Roasted - Christmas 2009 roasting dates.
Dec 16th, 2009, 1:54am

I have had a few queries about the dates that I'll be roasting in the next month.

These are the days that will work best around the public holidays and shipping schedules.

Tuesday 15th Dec. - just finished it!
Monday 21st Dec. (should arrive everywhere before Christmas day)
Monday 28th Dec. (boxing day holiday, will ship Tues morning)
Sunday 3rd Jan (ship Monday morning)

Then we should be able to return to some normallity of twice a week roasting.

Andy, Mate, buddy.. Boy child went and married a Merkin and is living in Alexandria Va USA  My wife anddaughter got him a Machine for a weddng gift  - Under 2 ft of snow currently , Girl Child asked me to get some Beans to send him, so I immediately thought Bean Bay Roasted, 750 grams, is the requirement - my bat phone number is 0418-119-599 if you can call/text your number I will return the call and we can close the deal..

Cheers Tepin...

Hi Tepin,
as per the above roasting dates, you have just missed the pre last Christmas roast.

The good news is that we have roasted extra sample packs (4x250g random bags) and can send those out still.

Sending to the USA is expensive, checkout www.austpost.com.au to get an idea of the postal charges (<1.25kg = $33 normal airmail, express post international is twice that)

...you will also have to fill-in the FDA Prior Notice listing each origin, manufacturing locations and contact etc etc.  Allow (minimum) half an hour of filling-in an online form...

http://www.fda.gov/food/guidancecomplianceregulatoryinformation/priornoticeofimp...

(as I understand it, without the above "Prior Notice" paperwork the FDA will shoot and drown the package on arrival)

It's not accidental that we only ship in Australia, its a royal pain everywhere else but if you have the time and patience to try I'm more than happy to ship a roasted sample pack to you in Oz.
Wink

Yesterday we roasted the last BeanBay brown for 2009 (and they all shipped today).

Due to the upcoming public holidays etc, the next roast is Sunday 3rd Jan and those will ship Monday morning 4th Jan.

We do have some roasted sample packs in stock that can be sent between now and the next roast day though if you are short on beans.

Almost laughed my pants off when I read this. Think you might have meant Merakin ... a Merkin is a whole different thing (suggest you look it up in Google  Grin Grin Grin)

The FDA form looks like its a PITA, back in the bad old days we used to send Chile Powder, Seeds  and Hot Sauces all around the world.. Some of that stuff was bordering on Toxic.. I might try to get some sent by our resident American Roaster this time, may be simpler..
I can fiddle the Postage from my end as the young brother is in component brokerage out of Sydney and always has a few freight tickets on hand.. I'll probably give it a miss this time but will have a look at it again in the future..

Cheers Tepin..

HI Andy, do you have any roasted beans left from yesterday? I forgot to put an order in... would love some of the Tanzanian or Yunnan beans to try.

We always try and have a few roasted sample packs in between roasting days but everything else really is roasted to order (which is the best way of ensuring you are getting the freshest coffee)

Nooby question perhaps, but what days are the normal roasting days, Sunday and Wednesday?  I looked around beanbay but couldn't see the info.

I ordered some beans on Wednesday evening, I guess they will be in the roaster Sunday, sent monday?  Thanks Smiley

Errr... you anwered your own question with a great guess!

The first page in BeanBay says:

Brown Beans

CoffeeSnob beans freshly roasted to order. Select the beans you would like to purchase, select the freight options in the checkout and transfer payment either via Internet bank transfer or credit card (via PayPal). We aim to have these roast to order beans delivered within a week of ordering and often even quicker depending on the timing of your order.

The main roast days are SUNDAY night and WEDNESDAY day (other days on demand) as soon as your beans are roasted we pack and express freight them.

Our coffee really is "roast to order" because quality and freshness is well worth the wait!

So yes, your 9:30pm order will be roasted on Sunday, shipped Monday and you should have it nice and fresh on Tuesday.

Enjoy!
