Hey Simone,

For some reason, I remember your (lost) question, despite its complete lack of relevance to me! Wink

Was it the luwaks aliens?

Cheers

Making the assumption you are still talking about cocoa (this is getting very disjointed and a tad weird to read)... no and yes and no and yes.

The pickup in Melbourne is not the 23rd.  It's tomorrow, the 16th but because of the potential of getting roasted orders that we cannot fill in time on the 11th hour we have "closed" the pickup point option in BeanBay.

The cocoa was in stock yesterday and still is still available last time I looked.  It would be possible for me to bring some with me.

Maybe email me to keep it simple? andy@ is always the best address.

Hi Andy, I recently bought green beans from Beanbay and  received the shipment via the Australia Post Express Post Satchels ($55 for 17 Kg) but the cost is pretty high in comparison with the eParcel service ($8.14 for 14 kg) used by another supply source. Can I opt for eParcel service next time I buy from Beanbaby? The saving is substantial as you can see. Thanks a lot.

Hi YK,

Welcome to Coffeesnobs, interesting first question.

Anyway,

Sure, if you see a checkbox for eParcel, go for it... Wink

If not, you may want to investigate pickup points as an option in your area. That would cut freight substantially. If you are in Melbourne, I'm figuring freight would be zero.

Regardless, Express Post satchels for 17kg of anything is not  really an economic transportation method.

Australia Post e-parcel has been a BeanBay option for a while now, you would have had the option along with two other (cheaper) couriers options too when you placed the order.

For some unexplained reason you chose the most expensive one.

...and as CKSYD suggested, if you get them deliverered to a pick-up point they will become $1/kg all over the country.

Oh, just for the record, our freight is subsidised... you always pay less than the actual price.

Next time you buy something from BeanBay have a look at the freight page a little closer, all of the freight is calculated to show you how much each option is.  You can then select the service that suits you best.

Just to clarify: I lived outside of Australia and this is the first time I bought green beans from Australia. Friends will lug them overseas for me. When I read about the write up regarding express post satchels some how I thought this is the only freight service available. Hence I checked that box. Many thanks for pointing out my over sight. Have a great evening to all! Smiley

Okay

Best set up for you is to analyse all the potential freight costs to your friends place and pick the best or most viable alternative.

I have to agree that $55 for 17kg is way too much but there are other options.

...also remember that the scheduled arrival (per BeanBay when you ordered) is the end of the week.

Even when they arrive at Veneziano they need to unpack and sort, someone will post when they are ready to be picked up.

Hi Snoblet and welcome,

If you have email notification enabled, you will receive an email as soon as Andy sets the dates as well as being able to view the posts in http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?board=NewPolls . BeanBay sales normally occur mid-month.

There are always greens available in BeanBay these days and I see 15 different green offers available right now just waiting to be sent your way Wink

Happy roasting Wink
