I swung past Veneziano, West End, Brisbane today around midday and they did not have the Beanbay orders as yet.  Enjoyed a lovely flat white and chatted about coffee with a few other customers. So was a pleasant trip.

Thanks Caelblue1.

I am going to ring Veneziano Monday 2pm to check, and will report back at around 3pm. I live out at Ipswich so can only swing by after work (work in Bris.)

Looking forward to trying their coffee when I pick my beans up.

ooh let me think about this....with you collecting the airfare, tour of all the top notch coffee places to be seen at, high quality accomodation chez Andy & Paula tabs, that shouldn't be a problem Andy??
Failing that here's the recipe for someone to grapple with!

Pear and Ginger Cake

125g butter
1/3 cup treacle
1/3 cup golden syrup
2/3 cup brown sugar

heat mix and cool

1 2/3 cups SR Flour
1 teaspoon bicarb soda
1 table spoon ground ginger
1 1/4 cup milk
1 egg
2-3 pears peeled and finely sliced
1table spoon chopped glaced or chrystallised ginger

Sift flour, soda and ginger powder

Beat milk, egg and then add treacle mixture, pears and ginger

Add to flour mixture and stir til combined

Bake 75 mins @ 170

Serve with cream yoghurt or sour cream

...only if you can fit into a courier satchel or box
Grin

Thanks for that
It still sounds yum even as a recipe (lots of things to pinch rom the bowl and stick your fingers in).  I'll see if I can get my kids to have a go at it... they all love to cook.

I know they are providing a free service and it takes time out of their day....... but I still feel a little sad that my beans have spent four days at someone else's house when I could be roasting greens and sipping the browns....... They also missed out on three customers, my wife and kids wont be there for the pick-up now, I will still stop for a coffee or two though if time permits........

I dropped in to Veneziano (Bris) on Saturday morning to pick up my two bags and they said they weren't ready, so naturally I was a bit disappointed. However they were quite busy really (I had a great doppio while I was ther as well) and I can understand that having someone moving away from the counter to get numerous CSer's beans would be a real hassle for them. In reality, Saturday is probably not a good day to pick up greens!

Anyhow, just rang Veneziano, and the greens are now ready for pick-up!

Cheers

I picked up my beans today (from Veneziano, Bris). They were still out the back in boxes.... yes, they were busy! I had a Macchiato and a short black (from different single origins) before I asked for my beans, they were both very nice! One was so fruity you could almost swear the cherry was still intact when it was ground and with a spicy/peppery aftertaste.... yum! and all rounded off with a copy of beanScene to read while I sipped them down.

I also took the time to have a chat as I noticed some old / previous deliveries still waiting for pick up..  Some time today; a list of un collected items will be collated...

V's did not have all the previous printouts of what has been ordered for Qld and for who; as they have been busy and lots going on and shop movements are ongoing...... (last two deliveries and collection looks OK)

So we may need to wait until Andy can review previous order printouts and we can cross match as to what/who is missing.......

So like the following.....

Andy Freeman wrote on Jun 10th, 2010, 9:07pm:
...except for the places that have unpaid orders.  If your beans don't get to the pickup point in time feel free to direct your agro at the slow payers!

Consideration for those (Sponsors and or Individuals)  that get to;

1: carry the non collected and

2: have to manage stragglers coming and going at all times for a bag of green beans etc...

I emailed Andy about that too AM.

I thought it was a bit odd, must be around 20 bags there...... He suggested perhaps a collection time expiry, resulting in an uncollected goods raffle.
There were brown bean bags in there too. I almost collected from that stash thinking they were the current order...... If it weren't for an in the know person coming along, I would have ended up with some (maybe) stale old browns!

Some of it has to be  a good few months plus at least..

Bin the browns..

Auction the rest..

I will do an Audit with Rosa in the morning...   I know they are getting pissed with having the stuff  taking up space and  adding confusion to the usual run of things....

Might have a chat to the boss person.. And see about collecting the greens and putting aside ( My place or KK ) until the next CS meet and greet and or a local Qld Raffle; with the proceeds going to some where neutral..

Cough, cough, ahem.. I appreciate the inititave but don't like the solution.

I think emailing Andy before calling the shots on CS'rs beans might be far more polite.

I like the idea of the raffle but I think at least one more attempt should be made to contact the purchasers before we dispose of their goods. Plus, there may be trade practices that govern the disposal of uncollected purchases.

Perhaps the non-collectors may think someone will contact them to let them know the beans have arrived. I work in the customer service industry and no longer surprised by the assumptions and false expectations of consumers. But I am also conscious of the enormous goodwill Andy has generated in running CoffeeSnobs and the BeanBay.

Could I make a suggestion that people who don't pay for their beans within, say, a week have their beans delivered at the next monthly BeanBay, or by post at their additional expense. I thought an order expired after a given time anyway if payment isn't made.
