If it tastes only half as good as it looks, its a winner. Well done Mr Nang, you have artistic taste.

I wonder whether theres been some diabolically digital "air brushing" on that one, or perhaps some cut and pasting. Those twin bear heads tend to stand out from the rest of the scenery.

Maybe they stand out because they are blobs of foam added after the initial pouring. I find it hard to believe someone would go to the extent of photoshopping latte art, as if latte art wasnt geeky enough I had a laugh

Ive actually seen then done - they use a bit of foam for the white back ground, then using a tooth pick and taking the crema from the edge of the cup draw in the features.

Ill post some more picks as I continue to practice for the barista comp in April (quality of the rosetta are starting to improve a little more).

    Excellent link, Javaphile.

I wonder whether the art value also increases posthumously.

Hhhhmm....Possibly, but I would think its shelf life would be very short. So short that long before the medics hauled the body away instead of it being Art Nuevo it would be Art Nomore. ;D

    Hi Nathan,

Any tips on how to achieve the tulip design? ie the one with the smaller but larger leaves, or the second one from the top of this page.

    Photo below from tonx.org

Or heres another one that I think can be attributed to Marika (not 100% sure)

The one on the left is what I want to be able to pour.

    One more.

Probably the coolest thing Ive seen for a while. I cant work out if there is only a blind filter being used or a blocked up triple basket...?

    Re: Great Latte Art Pics

I picked up the tulip from andy (and both the tulip and rosetta look like andys work above). Not sure I will be able to describe it well, but the tulip is quite easy. Essentially you start by pouring into the centre of the cup (tilting the cup on an angle) until the foam rises from under neath the crema to the surface. Stop pouring, bring the jug closer to your self and repeat the process again. On the last occasion where you bring the foam to the surface, run the stream of milk to the other side of the cup to draw the leaves together.

Tipping the bottom image is a blind filter.

    Re: Great Latte Art Pics

Pretty darned good! youll find pouring into round bottom cups/mugs allows rosettas to be created much easier. Round bottom cups allow you to tip the cup so that you can create the required angle to pattern the surface of the creama (and create latte art) much earlier - you can pour more leaves on the rosetta.

Consider also polishing the milk by swirling the jug (leave the milk sit for a few seconds, then swirl) it will bring a glossy sheen to the surface of the milk.

    Yep, what TEPIN said... Few years ago I had a Series 2 Rx7, 13B Hi-Flowed Turbo.. 300kws.... = FUN!!

    :-)

TEPIN, they are expensive, but getting the same performace from pistons is even more expensive, and the good ol Rotary will last if you look after it. Mine saw 8,000rpm Everyday for over 2 years before I sold it with no problems. Ran beautifully. :-)...

    Anyway... back on topic ;)
