My First Art...(put up your pics here!)

Here it is...!!

THE place to put up your first pictures of either good, bad or indifferent art!

This was inspired by all the first art threads that Id like to see consolidated into one post! So this one will be the First sticky in the Art Gallery forum! w00t!! 8-)

You all know how I like to keep things tidy... :D

So, please, do me a HUGE favour and post your first art pictures up here. That way we can keep them all in one place and they dont disappear! A good way for us to go back and see how you are all progressing in your styles and artwork.

If you have any problems loading up pictures, please let us know and well endeavour to help you out. ;)

Thoughts out there?

N.B.
Can all contributors kindly contain their images to within a maximum size envelope of 640x480. This will ensure that they can be easily viewed in most browsers.

Thanks,
Mal.

how did ya do that CK (not your art, but resizing me!) Im just now grappling with sending pics from mobile phone, to PC, then posting online in a decent form that looks bloody presentable.

Quick comment on yours - overstretched the milk, therefore too much body (blob with promising lines but no defining character).

Quick comment on mine - milk lacking enough stretchability, therefore promising lines, but no frikkin body to keep the swirly pour do its thing!

I used a tool thing from windows that resizes instantly.

As for the comment.... As i said it was my first sorta latte art. If *you want better ones look at the latte art section:)

You should also delete your original picture and say look under. Help those slow people with dial up.

Edit - Mal resized it in your post. Deleted my post of your picture

My first too - resembles something I recall seeing in my high school anatomy books!

Not quite a rosetta, maybe a frond mid-bloom.

Ta for re-sizing - you & Mal. Noted for future consideration of posting spectacular images.

hmmm...now that I look back on my latte art attempts from about 4 years ago, Im amazed that I can consistently reproduce what ever pattern I want to pour....bar triple rosettas....still always screw up the last one.

Heres one of my very first attempts at latte art made on a Silvia. Latte Art is one very frustrating pursuit.

1.30am...........I was aiming for a cap to keep me awake, but not this stiff. I couldve used the froth as a mousemat. Shame it tasted so much better than it looked.......Im now fully awake :-[

Actually, I reckon its a great job, Identity. Those straight sided glasses arent the easiest things to pour into.

Hi Amberosw. Good try. Dont worry, you well get there!!

Ive got the Silvia too and once you get used to the machine and steaming the latte art almost takes care of itself.

Re: My First Art...(put up your pics here!)

Got a coffee machine given to me as a wedding prezzie a few months ago (little did my wife know how obsessed Id get), and after a slow process of learning how to pull good shots and frothing milk, I started trying art. Ive been trying hearts for a couple of weeks and started on rosettas with this being one of the first that resembled one :)

A bit bodgy at the top, but pretty happy with it

The Breville 800 seems to be slow at steaming milk as Im finding that the creama can sometimes dissapate slightly before the pour, however Im guessing this may be the case with cheaper machines..

My first cup of art... whaaaaahahaha!

Tadaaaaaaaaah!! Here is my first masterpiece in a cup. ;) ;D

When I read into my artwork,..its painfully clear to me that I need to get out more and spend time away from my children.

I was larfin so hard, I could hardly carry the cup to the computer without spilling it. That silly face stayed right in that cup too, til the very bottom,.... although slightly skewed at the very end.

My 11yr old daughter just laughed at it,.. said it was a bit pathetic, but also said she was very prOUdddd of me ::)... eh hemm,.. now that makes me feel better.

Espressomatic, your chocolate art reminds me of Tuscan colours. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw it. That deep red with the contrasting white. Very nice.

Just playin around. ;D * I do try to do something on top of every coffee,.. and because I have absolutely no clue (must read up on latte art technique), usually the results are messy pure white blobs of foam which I then sprinkle with chocolate powder to cover the disaster and make look half pretty.

But here are two I made last night, which actually look a little like something.

In my daughters cup,.. this little apple was a happy accident.

And in my cup, I managed to get an Xmas tree *;) (albeit one that looks like it has seen better days), but it does kind of look like the beginnings of a bad rosetta yes? :)

Yeah, thats it Remy! Youve got to poke out your tongue to the opposite side of the hand you use to pour the milk. Works every time! ;)

i havnt searched for one yet, but i hope theres a walk through on doing the Latte art work...
im going to have to work on the "micro foam" as im only yet familliar with "foam".
probably looks more like soap suds.
the steam wand on the Gaggia Baby-Class is not that easy to work with, big plastic thing that doesnt let me get much angle into the milk jug...
im planning on getting an ikon for myself soon, will that be better??

Gday gmeddy,

Is your Baby Class similar to the original Baby? If so, it may be possible to changeout the Baby Wand for a Silvia Wand, which will make milk texturing a whole lot easier. Alternatively, you may be able to remove the so-called Froth Enhancer and try texturing with the shorter Wand.

Used to have the same problems with my Imat Mokita but found that it was still possible to produce excellent microfoam, albeit that the exercise required a collection of a wide range in milk pitcher sizes since the Wand was unable to reach very far into jugs with a small amount of milk in them.

Cheers :),
