Lavazza Carmencita - should I give up looking for the replacement seals?

    Hi there,

Firstly, I'm new to this forum!

I have an old faithful Lavazza Carmencita stove top which I love. However the rubber seal is nearly dead. I've called a couple of places only to find that they don't have any and are very hard to find. Can anyone help locating a supplier please? Or should I just start looking for another stovetop? And are there any recommendations for a stainless steel one?

    Cheers!

    Welcome to Coffeesnobs!
A number of Italian grocery stores in Melbourne sell gaskets for aluminium stovetops. Some might also deal with stainless steel versions. (You haven't said where you are, so this may be of no use to you at all!)

Your best bet is to take your stovetop with you and see what fits, otherwise just go the new stovetop and save yourself the trouble.

The Carmencita is a great coffee pot - I have several in different sizes. I can't speak for any Australian sources but you can get the seals at reasonable prices from here: Contatti

Their ebay sales are restricted to the Eu, but if you email them, ask nicely and tell them what you need and where you live they will send you a paypal invoice. They have seals for all 4 Carmencita pot sizes - 1,2,3 and 6 cups. Sets of 4 I think - details at the web site.

    Good luck,

    Savvas.

I can only echo what has been said in the quoted passage. If you are in Australia, ever major city has stores that keep these washers in stock, and as stated in the quote, you NEED to take the top section of your moka pot with you lest you buy a washer that does not fit....There are enough different brand moka pots in existence that dont all take the "standard" bialetti sized washers, at least in some sizes...also, if I had a dollar for every time someone came in and bought a certain sized washer and had to return & exchange because they bought the wrong size, Id be a squillionaire....ergo, you need to take the top half of the moka with you.

You didnt say which area are you live in, so no one can chime in with a recommendation of what shop you could to try phoning and despite that we now live in the 21st century, the yellow pages will work well for this type of excercise because if you mail order them without regard to the advice I have given above, odds are you will receive washers that dont fit for whatever reason.

    Hope that helps.

Can anyone help me locate a part for my Carmencita from Lavazza?

    Behmor Brazen - $249 - Free Freight
Below are pictures of my Carmencita. I'm looking for the funnel part, pictured by itself. It's 2" in diameter. I'm in California.
