In my opinion a Cafe is where you sit inside/outside with light food.
A coffee parlour is more of a indoor experiance with places to sit and read/talk and less of the food and more of the coffee.

I just obtained this old girl. A M27 3 Group
Its a older model to my M31 and its in very bad shape.
Once I get around to cleaning it up it may end up living in my outside kitchen :-)

    Heres the latest purchase.

Note: grinder normally lives 1500mm away near sink and we wont be doing stir-fry anytime soon. :) Actually... machine does have a little protective cover we devised if needed.*

VERY happy with new Giotto and grinder. *:D

The only thing my superannuation fund is useful for is a plastic card for levelling!

Ive seen pictures online with a black plastic one, so maybe its a new thing. Mine certainly did (ie. not aftermarket or anything).

Definitely helps the overall aesthetic, right? Im hoping I cant find a supplier for lever machines, so I dont buy one.

    Awesome setup.

I envy people with an island or an opened counter top in their kitchen.

    oton,

Thats a very nice setup. *I find that people with a lot of bling usually have a crowded, messy work space. *I think yours is very practical and comfortable. *Well done.

Dont you just love the Grindenstein?

*EDIT: Actually, all of the pictures on this page have very well organized shrines.

Wow, somehow after Otons setup, Im reluctant to post any pictures of my get up. Im fortunate enough that our house came with a dedicated bar area. It once served VB (bleh!) now serving coffee (hooray!)

It is, only the depth of the bench is not very accommodating. Im going to have to deepen it eventually. The EM6910 has a use by date and my 2 group slayer probably wont fit there. ;D

Thanks for the comments guys. *:)

Unfortunately I have to move to other house, so no open counter anymore. :P

I tried to match all the equipment in the same colors (stainless & black) due to my Spaz MiniV colors. (minus the grindenstein & pallo; I usually like some things with a totally different color to make contrast). I care my setup as a baby. Sometimes I spend some minutes just watching it. *;D. And sometimes I ask myself if all the money I have spent on the setup is worth it just to make 30ml of coffee! *::)

What a nice counter you have ACog. Love it! Looks spacious and very practical.

    Hi all

our coffee corner is now complete! (for now... cant afford any more upgrades until we sell the kids on evilbay.)

The downside of having this beautiful gear is that our coffee consumption has doubled. *However, this has enforced the economic neccessity of home roasting, which is proving to be great fun.

Rosetta (S24) took up so much space in our kitchen that a friend kindly built this table to fit in a nook in the dining area. *I reckon he did a brilliant job. *He even made it the perfect height for standing at all day at outdoor events etc.

    Cheers

Looking out for some better cups, a bang bang and would love a pullman tamper for starters. *(dont want to be too greedy now :) )

It seems a good time for me to update the list of coffee preparation aparatii.
Work: 2 x plungers (12 cup and a 3 cup), and a newly acquired Aeropress and Kyocera ceramic hand grinder combo.
Home: 2 x Turkish/Greek/Arabic coffee pots, 1 x stovetop, 1 x plunger, 1 x Bellina syphon, and of course the Giotto and Macap M4 which has recently moved locations from one side of the kitchen to the other.

Ive just made the step up from a Sunbeam kit (EM6900 / EM0480) to a Diadema Unico Splendour and K3 Touch grinder. Those attending the Brisbane CS meetup might remember it, since its the one AM had on the table outside :)
Tis a great looking machine and Ive got a lot of learning to do. Now just need the kitchen to match it *:D

Re: What Coffee Equipment do you all have - Part 3

First post on here but thought Id share as am very very new at this. Im thrashing the hell out of this lot in the hopes itll go pop and Ill have an excuse to upgrade - thats how you get toys once married right??

    Breville 800
Hario Grinder (for use with presso when on holiday)
Popcorn Popper modded (extended chimney, 25% power reduction on element, drilled thermo probe and heat cut etc)
    Presso
A vacum setup I picked up for $40 online but I think its purely ornamental (gold filter balancing syphon???) - Tried using it once and spent more time cleaning soot than drinking and making coffee combined!!

Anyway - as I said Im trying to make it pop. Next budget will hopefully get me a few steps further - maybe La Pavoni Domus Casa and a Gaggia MDF

As I said Im pretty green so if you think my money is better spent which is about 1500NZD all up Id appreciate any pointers...

Re: What Coffee Equipment do you all have - Part 3

In addition to above, I discovered the Presso Basket is interchangeable with the breville 800, its a little tighter getting the PF to twist in but once there gives a much better result than the breville basket. And the crema still comes through as good as with the breville basket.
