    Reg Barber quality

Has anyone else had issues with the quality of their Reg Barber tamper (i.e. the finish)? I purchased two that were received 20mins ago. These are both brand new out of the box. Not only the dirt and scratches, but how's the orange peel on the powder coating! My $30 generic brand tamper I've been using far exceeds the finish on these two.

Perhaps karma for not buying Pullmans locally?

Wow, that's bad! I hope you've let them know.

Yep first thing. I've requested a refund unless they have any other solution (not sure what else unless they want to replace). If so will head straight to Pullman.

Did you contact the supplier? Are they an authorised reseller of Reg Barber products?

First port of call is to contact them with these photos. More than likely they will offer a solution.

Edit: I was writing this out but wasn't quick enough to post it

I know Reg. I actually have a special tamper he gave me that I swapped for a set of Ancap cups.

That is not normal and I know he wouldn't be happy.

Sometimes manufacturing defects happen , but in this case you would have hoped those marks and scratches were picked up before it was sent to you

I purchased direct from them, I'm really happy with the base (the main reason I went with RB for the c-flat base). So hopefully they're up for sending a new pair of handles out as I'd be happy to keep them. Hoping to update with a good outcome.

Hmmm, pretty poor form bagging the manufacturer on a public forum without first giving sufficient time for him to rectify the issue.

Interesting that the fingerprint type swirls on both handles are almost identical, obviously a production problem overlooked by quality control.

Pretty poor you reckon? I have to disagree. Whether the outcome is positive or negative I'll report it honestly here. Surely this is helpful for those contemplating a purchase?

I'm not bagging, I'm posting factual information.

I can understand one tamper slipping through QC but two......

Don't worry about Yelta, he just likes to stir. You've done the right thing by contacting the seller. I'm sure they'll want to rectify this somehow so just make sure to let us know how it all goes.

So they've come back to me thinking it's a packaging issue. That would make sense as it's packaged in tissue paper only so rubbing could occur. They're sending two replacements out asap which is perfect.

Can't ask for better service than that! After sales backup shows you what a retailer is really like.

Good outcome Arcade, had a feeling Reg would make it right, he designed and produced the original tampers as we know them today and continues to make beautiful products.

Stirring has nothing to do with it, I simply don't like situations like this when we only hear one side of the story, and the supplier has not been given sufficient time to respond, had you waited 24 hours we would have received an entirely different report.

Pleased to hear all has worked out well.

The situation still happened though, regardless of the outcome. Look at it from a constructive perspective; perhaps I've alerted someone else to a potential packaging issue and so they may choose to mention they'd like extra attention paid to the packaging with their order, or may go for a finish other than powder coat for more scratch resistance.

    Behmor Brazen - $249 - Free Freight
......or the Reg Barber team realise they might need better packaging for worldwide shipping.
