    Upgrading and Need advice.

    Hi All,

So let me introduce myself first. I've been a coffee enthusiast for over a year now (however been drinking coffee for years) and purchased my first machine 12 months ago (Breville BES870). The machine recently broke down and have returned it and now looking to upgrade.

My budget currently is around the $2500-3000 mark.

After much research I am considering the Profitec Pro 500 however have a few questions i was hoping someone could answer.

    • I have seen some mixed thoughts about descaling this machine. Some say to never descale and some say it requires descaling. Whole latte love have a youtube channel showing the process and even recommend doing it every few months. (I'm thinking this may all come down to your water hardness).
    • My breville had automatic dosing when brewing the shot, does the Profitec have anything like this or you just have to time\judge the shot by time\dosage?
    • Anything else I should be aware of with this machine?
    • Any other machines anyone would recommend? (I was initially looking at the Rocket appartmento however the internal build quality looked to be much better with the Profitec).

    Thanks.

    Welcome Dave86...

Best thing you could do mate, is to line up a couple of well respected specialist retailers, such as our Site Sponsors, or other reputable premises, and ask them to give you some hands-on demonstrations with a range of their machines that includes the Profitec Pro 500. You can then ask as many questions as you like from a true professional while you enjoy the coffee you're producing...

    Win-win.

The Sponsor List is actually at the bottom of every page.

As it also says at the bottom of every page just above the list of the site Sponsors: Email all the CoffeeSnobs Site Sponsors at once using the QUOTE FORM

Using that form you can send a request to all sponsors at the same time requesting information specifying such things as what you're interested in and what area of the country you're looking at for shops.

Hi Iím in the same situation as Dave I have a 4 year old BES920 that has made at least 3 Coffeeís every day. It seems likely the pump and solenoid have gone so itís a good time to upgrade. My wife makes coffee as well and her request is that the shot time and grind dosage is programable by me as she has no interest the finer makings of coffee.

Iím looking at the Expobar Office Control with a Rocky doser grinder. Can I do any better for around $2500.

    Toby
