I got similar scales (500gm +/-0.01gm) very cheap, but never actually weighed my portafilters beforehand. Therefore, I can only use them with my naked portafilter as my standard portafilters are over 500gms.....

I do mainly use my naked portafilter and don't weigh my dose all the time, plus my naked is the fantastic cafalet one that I can attach the double spout to after weighing my dosage.

    Love it!!!!

My current set up is its big brother, the Bialetti Il Caffe-

I've modified it by swapping the steam wand to a Silvia V1 wand and I don't use the original portafilter as it's just crappy aluminium. In this pic is a modified ROK Presso naked PF with a Breville single wall double shot basket. It's a great combo that has the potential to make great coffee. And I've got a modified Sunbeam PF off an EM4820 with the Bialetti double basket in it that also works well.

It's a 2nd Gen L1 that I bought used mate. Will have to run some serious side by side tests when I get a free day!!

If it's not too idiosyncratic a question - what's that tamping mat?

It's a coffeeparts tamping mat. Pretty old but I'd assume they still sell them

Classic rookie mistake though. Not leaving enough overhead for upgrades without spending a fortune.

You're like a cashed up me. All the good stuff, custom wood, and a cut off container for the grinds because "let's not go overboard"

It's not a second drip tray... it's a raise for when you're extracting into demitasses.
