I like these for their ability to make not only great coffee but the durability they pose. I have a small collection of ones i have found in my travels and some are dated back to the 60's. Also the Pyrex glass ones make a great coffee and enable you to see it as it happens.

I bought it more to use as a pour over kettle, but was keen to try it for brewing too. The brew I made with it today was perfectly adequate. It's not dissimilar to the result I get from my syphon. If you follow the usual good practices for making good coffee there's no reason these can't be used to make a decent cup.

Posted this on the other thread, but my setup as of this week.

Profitec Pro 800, Mazzer Super Jolly (without the hopper), motta 58mm tamper, two incasa milk jugs (300 & 600ml), duralex glasses (90ml for espresso/machiatos and 220ml for lattes), cheap fleabay scale to 0.01g weighing and generic rubber tamper matt.

Also now have a timer switch to turn on at 5am. Plenty of time for the machine to warm up for 6am for the wife and more like 7 am for me

My VBM Domobar super electronica.. Small rebuild job: new pump, OPV, dose pad, descale bath of boiler / piping and fittings, resprayed machine feet, new steam wand arm including springs, sleeve and seals all connected to my wemo wifi power adaptor.. Sitting beside the machine is my Compak K3 touch, al cheapo scale (to nearest 0.1grams), OCD tamper knockoff, and my trusty percolator for the quick pick me up when I'm short on time..

The machine is now at my mum and dad's, it still looks stealth there though.

My new (old) percolator doing double duty as a pour over kettle. My thermometer sits perfectly in the top with the glass knob removed.
