Are you going to put the cafe on a Uni campus somewhere?

I'd go for something lame like 'The Retort Stand'. I think putting 'lab' or 'laboratory' or similar in the name is a bit too literal.

not in campus just the cafe style is more like laboratory, and idea is let people know how we care about the coffee in their cup.

My opinion is that the "lab" thing is getting close to cliche.

i'll be there if the coffee's good, regardless!

Local geography (suburb/road names) can help. But seriously, the name is a 'second order problem'. Do you have a location with footfall? If so, who are the passers-by? What do they want to drink/eat, and in what time/format? Answer them first, names are more likely to flow next.

In terms of your original idea, you could go with something like 'The Science of Coffee', and consistent decor......but.......if you don't produce the goods in the cup, you look very bad, and you bleed cash.

From your description of your market (sounds like a commuter suburb), the guys with the $$ are not the guys with the time to sit down with a coffee, or to wait too long for a take away. I reckon you'll need to sell a fair amount of food (which may be possible).

i am confident with my skill.. hahahaha.. and i may roast small batch of coffee to suit the area, it's still confidential so i can't really tell what's i am going to sell, but it's doesn't like the cafe you can see anywhere with.. commercial coffee bean.... only thing i can say is .. will be unique in the area

    What about Cof2e2 or COF2E2

The subscripts convey a chemical formula.

The html does not seem to work, they should be displayed as subscripts.
Gotta use the coding the forum recognizes, then it displays just fine: Cof2e2

As Barry O'S said back in post 12, the name is of secondary importance at the moment. You'll think of one and a customer might even suggest something perfect for you.

Good coffee will sell itself. Make bad coffee and your customers won't return and word of mouth can travel quickly if your coffee is not good.

IMO, a good head for business is essential followed closely by location. Passion for what you are doing and you should be fine.

Wouldn't it be superscript rather than subscript?

If you are aiming for f squared and e squared, the numbers go on the top. Unlike atomic numbers that go below.

My coding now works - thanks to Javaphile!
    Something like:

    Cof2e2

New cafe need suggestion of name

    How about Coffee Particulate?

Coffee dropper? Geisha only coffee shop sold by the ml

    Beaker coffee?

If things don't work out you can always get in the Swedish Chef and his assistant.

Some unique untested coffee ventures up for grabs...

    * Sensual Lab Coffee. Relax first. Leave on a high. A mix of massage and coffee

    * Spray Tan Espresso...

More seriously though good luck with your venture.

Try looking at the science side of coffee...

    1,3,7-t (short for 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine)

44 (the number of chromosomes in the Arabica plant)

"Shotgun" has real impact as a name for a coffee shop.
I think it is 'catchy' and customers would like to say "Meet me at Shotgun" (wear your spurs).
Shotgun's avatar is also clever and would make a great logo.

On another track - "Pour Boy". (play some Creedence in the background for the pensioners)

Maybe something completely different. Like... a name that relate to your origin? The name and decor doesn't have to be directly related in my opinion.

    Here an idea ...

    "Gourdous Coffee"
Our coffee is from the PNG Highlands, high altitude, arabica coffee of the finest quality.

The cafe is decorated with PNG items and culture on the walls. What sets the cafe apart is that it uses lever machines where the handles of the lever machines are carved wooden gourds made in PNG and the good looking baristas only wear sandals, gourds from PNG and feather head dresses :-) Just imagine it - the lever is pulled down and as the pour progresses the lever with its gourd cover slowly rises.

Coffee should be served in gourds with a gourd based menu that is paleo, sugar free, gluten free, low fat and home made
