Are there any good decaf beans? Do they exist?

    Hi all,

My doctor said I cant drink coffee anymore. I didnt kill him as he looks like McDreamy, but I managed to negotiate with him where I can have 1 coffee a day. I also told him my home set up and it was a crime against humanity for it not to be used.

He also said decaf is an option, are there any decent decaf whole beans for sale anywhere? Id be keen to hear from you and most appreciative.

Im loving crema coffee garage blends in newcastle "girl from ipanema", "altitude" and similar blends.

    Cheers,

I am in same situation, and really miss the single origins... But the Decaf WOW from here is good. I have served it to friends without telling them and they liked it - were surprised when I told them it was decaf. I have also tried Pablo & Rusty single origin decaf, and Campos blend (Sydney roasters) and they are also ok.

    Cheers

Mate, this doctor's timing is unbelievable! Couldn't have had this conversation 6 months ago before you splashed out? Hope it's not the same one I go to

Oh well, at least you still get one per day, maybe jumbo size

I've tried a couple of decafs from local roasters and although touted as "very good", I find that the taste is very different to what I am used to. Hope you have better luck. Will look forward to your opinion.

    Cheers
    Mal

I heard from a Barista (who incidentally sold a different brand at their cafe) that Dimmatina in South Melbourne is known for having the best decaf. I can't speak from personal experience as until I have two grinders at home, I'll stick to caffeinated.
