    Need a machine

    Hi everyone,

I'm a youth worker in Wollongong and want to start a barista course for the kids here to do to give them some skills.

The only problem is i have no idea what i'm doing when it comes to what machine to buy. I've heard a lot of information and am a little overwhelmed.

The project has a budget of $2000 but can go a little over.

Can you guys please give me a few suggestions on what machines would be good for me to use?

    Cheers everyone.

ps. if this isn't the right thread to post into, my bad.

Hi Mate, my name is Renzo I own a small business in Bondi Junction where we specialize in espresso machines and others things like coffee, barista training, You are welcome to drop by the shop an I can explain the different machines and get the one is more suitable for your needs and budget. The concept is try before you buy it.

By the way we do packages as well.....I had a laugh

    Regards

    Renzo

Go local, Bondi is probably a good option.
A cost price machine might sound attractive but parts only warranty probably won't include shipping back to base (Melbourne) for repairs =$$$$$$$ and you risk having your machine trashed in the process as well as a substantial time delay.

Going more local will help your networking and give you a growing support community as well as potentially opening doors for the people you're trying to help.

Don't buy an old cheap machine from the bay or anywhere else..... it may only corrupt the learning curve.

I will admit i have no idea what parts only warranty means, however.

    Hi BerkeleyYouth

It sounds like a good idea worth developing and thinking through details to see if worth pursuing.

I'm just wondering who you have lined up to train the young people?

There are plenty of TAFE cert courses and training places offering this training already.

One thing I've been thinking through lately as well is that employers almost always want staff with plenty of experience and so the cert alone won't give people an opportunity.
