BREVILLE BES900 Dual boiler / LOW PRESSURE ISSUES, solution ?

    Hi coffeeheads

i wonder if someone has any specific advice here...i have owned a BES900 for about 5 years.. And am now struggling to see a pressure above 4.3bars during the pressure test advised to check such issues...

Is there anything i can do about this myself or am i locked into visiting a service centre, paying $xx for review and then perhaps no doubt, $xxx for some replacement part...?

There seems to be some disatisfaction in general with the post 1.5/2 yr performance of these machines....

What is the current best / long term reliable model in the $1-2k price range? Any views?

    cheers

What sort of coffees do you make and how often do you make them?

If it's already 4-5 years old.... You might want to spend ~$90 and get it diagnosed, you might not think it's worth it. As a BES920 owner I doubt it'd be worth fixing (no pressure, but if you do decide that can I have the portafilter? ).

Something like a Nuova Simonelli Oscar II can be had for under $1500 and will outlast the Breville by eons. You could even upgrade the grinder to something like a Macap M2M and keep everything under $2000. I hope other people chime in with other recommendations.

Depending on where you are, it would be extremely helpful to visit a site sponsor and get some advice and get hands on with a few machines.

    Welcome to the forum.

When was the last time you cleaned your machine- descale etc? Is it still getting to the right temperature? Sorry I can't give you any more specific advice about the actual machine, but numerous pressure related issues stem for insufficient routine maintenance/cleaning.
