I've just learned of this new model of the Mignon and it looks to be exactly what I'm after in a grinder.

Do we know when these are going to start become available?

    About four to five weeks.

A little bit of delay out of Italy with manufacturing and AQIS issues with the "Italian Stink beetle" (yes really)

    Cheers

Thanks! That's pretty much exactly when I'll be looking to pick one up, so that works out well for me.

A long story Flynn, but it is impacting all shipments out of Italy. Apparently the Italian fumigation companies haven't been doing their job up to our AQIS standard.
So we now have double, even triple fumigation in Italy and Australia adding weeks to imports from Italy.

    Oh the joys of importing.......

Has anyone tried the new Eureka Mignon Specialita? How does it compare to the Atom?

I'm also curious about what the difference is between the standard Atom and the new Atom Specialty 65.

Similar feature sets now with quiet grinding and anti clump.
Eureka Mignon will be slightly cheaper and focused for home market.
Mignon is a slightly smaller form factor.

Eureka Mignon Specialita 55mm flat burrs vs standard Atom is 60mm flat burr set.
    Mignon will be slower.

Atom and Atom speciality range will more easily jump between home and light to medium commercial use.

    see Antony's post #35

and post #46 with links to comparison starts between Mignon and Atom

    Hope this helps.

Just wondering if anyone has had any further experience with these grinders? Thinking of getting the specialita (though stock seems limited) but curious to hear any first hand experiences...

    I tried all versions:

Silenzio great improvements from old Mignon, no mess, quite and very good grind quality, low retention (similar to Eureka Atom 60)

Perfetto: my personal preference as I need to grind for Aero Press and Espresso machine, same speed and quality as Silenzio but electronic timing instead analog, the pause function is really useful.
ps. if you only use the grinder for espresso this is not your choice as the grinder knob becomes really sensitive for precise adjustments.

Specialita': bigger blades, better performance, grind quality and retention are the same as the rest of the range, the standard fork is also adjustable. no huge improvement from the rest

They're all great grinders for home!

So in case you scale and single dose the Silenzio is what you need otherwise the choice is between Perfetto and Specialita
