    Costa Rica Tarrazu El Cedral


    El Cedral de Dota is to the South of the township reaching up to 2000m high. Named after the tall cedar trees on the farm, this coffee has good body with a sweet acidity and a sultana fruity finish. Stunning Central American coffee that works well in espresso, pour-over, plunger... anything!


    Costa Rica Tarrazu San Marcos

    Finca San Marcos is to the North of the township, high in the hills at around 1500m.
    In the cup this coffee is crisp and clean with a lingering caramel finish. Beautiful coffee!

    (with the exception of the 1kg Maui, 1kg Panama and the 2kg Elephant Monsoon) All BeanBay green beans are packed in 2.5kg zippered cotton bags, perfect for storage for up to 3 years when kept in a cool, dark and dry position. We ship paid orders out from the Snobbery Monday to Thursday and BeanBay will show the available shipping options to your area. Larger orders are typically cheaper to freight per kilogram so we suggest ordering all your requirements at once. We also strongly recommend that you ship to an attended address (eg: work or grandma's house) to avoid delivery delays.

    ...and they are great coffees, as are the next two Costa's that will hit BeanBay. These are the cream of the Central American crop, all rippers produced by farmers that understand that putting the extra effort into a microlot results in a better coffee in the cup and a better return for them... win-win for all of us.

    That's a shame... I missed out on these by a week... I hope there still stock left when I place my next order. I loved the Costa Rica Miel SHB that you had previously, my fav coffee this year so far. Which of these would be most similar to that?

    I'm yet to try a Costa Rican that isn't excellent. On par with Ethiopians. Same same but different.

    I will second that :thumbup: I never turn down a Costa Rican if it's on offer at a cafe and most are forgiving to roast too.

    As Gavisconi007 said "same same but different"!

    If I had to pick I would say the San Marcos is closest but these two and the next two Costa Rican's are all different. They all overlook the same valley (Santa Maria de Dota) but with different farmers and environmental conditions they all stand as unique in the cup.

    It's great fun to play with beans from such a small target area side by side to taste the differences.

    While continuing to reduce a over-ambitious stash (I still have beans over 3 years old), I made my first purchase in 7 months last week. Ordered on Wednesday evening (ater 5pm) and delivered early Friday morning. Smooth as. My only confusion was which shipping option to choose and Andy's advice to take the cheapest option was spot on ( BeanBay works it out for you).

    Yes it looks like that's the way. From memory if you selects pick up option in bean bay at check out it says you will get an email when your order is ready to pick up.

    Yep, pickup from the Snobbery is a "shipping option" in the checkout of BeanBay... we can't do counter sales and don't have any facility to do sales any other way than online (no till, no eftpos machine).

    As mentioned, you receive an email when your order is packed ready and the pickup times are generally 1-5pm Mon - Thu.... but BeanBay always shows the correct times for the current week when you are placing your order.

    Righto. Thanks Andy. My sister is a local, so she can do pick ups for me.

    i received my first bag of green beans last week. Brazil yellow bourbon. Roasted some on yesterday in the gene cafe - bought off a fellow CSer (great deal, great bloke).

    tasted that roast this arvo. Umm... I'll try it over the next few days. I can taste good in it, and it is very fresh, but i know I've got an awful lot to learn.
