We can fix bad coffee problems, still not too late to get some good coffee freighted over... you could fill the hopper at McDs.
    ;)

The opening ceremony would have been amazing from the arena... although it did look mighty hot n sweaty. What colour foot-prints did you lay on that amazing picture?

There are plenty of CSrs counting down till Friday, Topshot. We all hope you have a "blast!"

    Hi Andy,

The line up at McDs coffee is long enough now! :-?
If we were to get some good coffee here, the line up would go forever! ;)
Still, its better coffee then I expected!

I put some blue foot prints on the "canvis", just as well we had blue shoes! :D

The opening was very hot n sweaty, had a great time there, just have to wait till I get home to see what I couldnt see while we were waiting outside to "march ( walk ) in". :)

    Thanks again, till next time,

    Warren.

Have a ball mate. All the best for the competition and same goes for all our athletes!

Man, just to be able to say you went to the Olympics is an achievement in itself. Dont spend too much time searching for great coffee over there, you could be searching for a while. ;D

Errr, the Olympics program guide has you down for Thursday 14th - Not Friday?? ::) Wouldnt want you to sleep in..

Blue footprints... cool. I really love that painting and the fact 10,000 people made it on the night.

The line up at McDs coffee is long enough now!
Not quite the diet I would have expected in the athletes village... I thought maybe the only queues would be for carrot and celery vege-shakes or similar performance foods.
    :)

Im guessing Warren is obviously not to worried about the training session and focused on the qualifier.

    Super Bean Cooler

As my first lot of CS Green beans have arrived and bean keen to get on and start roasting some up I had bean thinking over a scotch or two about how to cool them quickly.

In keeping with the spirit of using items laying around the house to Home Roast I have come up with an idea on how to achieve rapid cooling of the beans and dechaff them at the same time.

I am not to sure about the small Fan unit as it only has the option to blow air over the beans and insuficient thust to move it into the air to help speed the process. It also wont aid in chaff removal unless additional agitation is used this is potentionally dangerous due to the open fan blades.

The larger two have the options to both blow and draw air over the beans which should help in removing any left over chaff. There is a couple of potential problems I see coming up with several modes of operation. Should the inverted mode be used it will result in some pre grinding by the blades which from what I read around here blade grinders are not very even in the grind size so this would be undesirable. This would limit the cooling operations to positive G only such as loops or sharp knife edge turns.

To this end maybe the fitting of a cover to the strainer to enable true multimode cooling may be required to achieve optimum results.

Advice welcome to a newbie roaster.

Do you screw the bowl to the kitchen bench first?

(or do you make sure the dog-house has a blanket before you do)

    Hi Mal & Andy,

times have moved on, Castor sucks *:o all my toys are either Electric *8-) or the really big ones are Petrol :) Still like diesel motors for fun (I just like the smell of burning ether) *::)

The plan was to cabletie the strainer to the undercart so it stayed in place otherwise it will get a little hard to balance I think.

No need for the dog house, singledom lets me get away with lots ;D

Test driving in the morning the Red Cocoa is making me sleepy.

I had a laugh.... I can just imagine the neighbours "bf" ;D

"What the hell is that noise and what IS that thing flying around on the other side of the fence?"

"Oh, its just bf cooling off his last coffee roast :P"

Yeah i got the kitesurfing bug too - part of the reason why the chopper has been sitting on a shelf in the garage for the last 2 years and the only plank i brought over from south africa went through the table saw (quickest way of fitting it into the wheelie bin)

After kitesurfing nothing really compares does it? I get bored after two runs down the mountain on a snowboard now :)

My latest challenge though is a pair of twins - NO not the pair of blond 36DDs from my dreams but 18 month old boy and girl - since those two blighters arrived I dont get time for anything of the things mentioned above :(

Anyway enough about kitesurfing and RC choppers - that what runryder and kiteforum are for - lets leave andys forum to its coffee

I used to be interested in all sorts of things and then 3.5 years ago I took up kiteboarding and since then its been mainly work>family commitments>keeping fit>kiteboarding and thats it (usually in reverse order *::)). I recently dislocated my left shoulder for the second time and having 3 months off the water has forced me to start looking into other hobbies/activities again. Trying to improve the coffee I make at home is one of them! *:)

The shoulder is probably about as good as its going to get and Im off to Nepal next week to do the Gokyo/Everest Base Camp trek. Ill be sure to take the CS calico bag I received with my green bean starter kit and proudly fly it once I reach camp. Should look good next to the North Face, Mountain Hardware, Asolo signage, etc. :D

Hey, cool shop! My friend here in Townsville opened up a kite shop/coffee bar a few months ago *8-). The annual TSV kite festival was held over the weekend. Unfortunately, I didnt take a photo until an hour before it finished. Below...

Being a green bean I hadnt considered portable grinder, etc. *:-? No reason why the trip cant be a little civilised if not too much effort. I have a week until I leave so might look into it. I thought I would just be drinking the other stuff while away. *:-/

Love mountain biking .. just need to get off my arse and ride more.

    Im a moderate geek.

I am a social networking addict .. I bought an iphone just so I could check my facebook and update my twitter more often .. yes its sad.. but its fun for me.

I love hip hop .. but not the commercial garbage .. Christian hip hop is my favorite style of music .. followed by Hardcore, Metal, Pop, Alternative, ambient lounge, experimental electronica, new wave .. jazz etc etc..

    Beer

Motorbikes - current is an R1. Wife has an R6.

Spent many years teaching and licencing people on a part time basis. Taught people at track level, nearly lived at the track for a while there. Done some testing with a couple of magazines.

    Beer.

    Video.

Made plenty of vids/DVDs from my daughter racing motocross in juniors to us on the road and the track with mates. Made a DVD that went on the front cover of a magazine and sold nationally and in Un Zud.

Cooking, wine - not necessarily mutually inclusive.

    Did I mention Beer?

    anyway, heres the bike

Definitely wine, to the point that I have been blogging on the subject for over 3 years now, with well over 100 wines reviewed in that period...

Hey great thread, hadnt seen it until now. Some interesting posts there.

Life started 13 years ago at 34, after being all but destroyed through two addictions. As it stands today?

I live firstly for Jesus as the result of a life saving experience.

Then follows...in no apparent or order of importance

Music..hard rock, metal, Christian rock, oz rock, anything that tickles my fancy

Watching sport (anything and everything), plan on taking up bowls one day

    Beach fishing

    Rock fishing

    Estuary fishing 8-)

    Golf

My family, you dont cherish what you have till you nearly lose them

Cooking and eating...mexican, indian, thai, any home cooking

Games..Amiga was my first love, consoles..driving, first person WWII shooters, WWII flight sims

Home brew for a few years, but might have abeer about once every 6 months or so these days

Went back to school, Diploma in Alcohol and Drugs, and a Cert IV in Mental Health, I am now looking to get my Degree in Counselling through a local Christian College to get into counselling from a Christian perspective in the field of addiction

Building fishing rods, am just starting out

Re: We know you like coffee, but what else?

Another Christian CS here. Im into Guitars, Knives, Axes, Pipes and Tobacco, Backpacking, Hunting, Fishing, Spicy food, Leatherwork and a few other things that escape me. I really love life at the moment - sort of feel like Im making up for lost time as I was addicted to Alcohol and Drugs for quite a few years. Been sober/clean 6 yrs now. Good coffee definitely helps. Regards.
