Australian MTE + Honduras La Central

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I was down to my last 100 or so grams of Aussie MTE Bin 549 - a bit too small for rooasting by itself. I mixed 50:50 with a Homduras La Central and roasted to start of second crack in a Coffeetech Baby roaster on July 31. Tried it as a single pour long black* on Saturday. Not bad but it was made fairly hastily.

Tried it in a Clever dripper today. Quite nice. As expected, chocolates but with a bit more fruitiness than usual.* Both beans would have been the 2008 crop.

I think it would work well with other Centrals - the chocolatey ones such as Mexican or Guatemalans.

    * The single pour long black was prepared using a VST 22g basket. I grind as for my current Gioto basket and tamp a little lighter and pour about 150mL in 25 seconds. You get a lot more body and flavour than a standard long black made using a single or double shot plus hot water.
As it is a long shot, its best to use a triple basket.

Nothing to be scared of. If you are fond of a long black but prefer a bit of body and extra flavour then give this method a try. Ive tried it several times successfully but only with the 22g VST basket. It wasnt my idea; the idea came from a member of the "other" forum.

But to stay on topic, Ive been enjoying this blend throughout the week as a CCD brew. I think the whole blend is greater than the sum of its parts. I cant quite taste the toffee the MTE usually produces nor is the chocolate very prominent. But there is a distinct fruitiness that I cant give an apt description of but I dont get individually from either the MTE or Honduran.
