    Leaky wand on Sunbeam 5800

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I have a Sunbeam EM5800 for the coffee club at work, which we have had for 4 years or so. It has served us well, but now whenever anyone makes a coffee the steaming wand leaks water(as many of these machines do). It has progressively got worse, to the point where water will not flow thru the group head at all. The coffee holder has been modified to be non pressurized, so it is not blocked. I have had the machine back to be repaired and are told the parts are not serviced by Sunbeam.

I am happy to repair it myself, if it is simpl [smiley=undecided.gif]y a case of changing a seal, or O ring. (I successfully repaired a leaky thermoblock on my machine at home)

If it is not repairable, what is the best replacement with a budget of $600 ?

On the ones I have seen / worked on....

Usually a symptom of scale build up, and thus clogging the change over valve ..

A de scale sometimes works but the build up at this stage is usually bad enough that only a strip and manual clean works... And then only for a short time... As the surface of teh valve and pipework has become pitted and attracts the buildup.
