    sunbeam em5900 - unpressurized basket

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    hi everyone my first post

after a little looking and calling around, i have been hitting a brick wall trying to find an unpressurized basket for my sunbeam e5900.

not really looking for huge improvements in the coffee i make, just curious to see if you can buy them for this model.

or should i measure the existing pressurized basket and try and find something that will fit?

thanks in advance for any advice

    wade

there is a place in nth melb that sells the krups baskets that fit sunbeam. or there are a few threads on people that have modded their pressurised one... but the krups baskets are only abut $12

yeah machine is good. simple to use, makes one hell of a racket though... hard to make a quiet cup in the morning.

i decided to take the plastic plate out and make a cup that way (with the standard pressurized basket)... mistake!!! i think i nearly blew a hole in the bottom of the glass... i now know what 9 bar of pressure through a screw hole looks like!!!

will have to do some more research

there are a few different options for what to do with your 5900. You can get someone with a metal lathe to cut our the bottom, some have even used a Dremel tool and cut it out, while others have just drilled some extra holes carefully in the base.

The other popular option is to get a 53mm Krups non pressurised baskets.

combine a non pressurised basket with a grinder (0450 or 0480) and you will produce some great coffee!! but the grinder will make the biggest difference to your coffee.

    Enjoy the journey!!

    hm sounds like a plan

does anyone know where you can buy coffee equipment in perth?

looking to get a new basket, tamper etc

only places seem to be over east and online, would just like to take my group handle in for my own piece of mind, to make sure everything fits etc.

    thanks again

Dont know about stuff specifically for Sunbeams but I know Epic Espresso sells tampers etc. and they could point you in the right direction for whatever else you need.
