Breville Cafe Roma - problem fitting group seal

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I just replaced the group seal on my parents machine and now cant get it to work properly. It starts the shot OK but then makes a loud popping sound as it finds a weakness in the seal somewhere and water starts spurting out around the sides of the group handle. Anybody had a similar problem? is it fixable?

    Thanks

    L

Did you ensure to install the seal the right way around, and with the shower screen also in the right order?

Another CSer used silicone.... up to you.

Yes he would have as I have just done the same thing with a Breville Roma and is does the same thing. I think the problem is the point of exit is above the seal and not that the point of contact between the filler basket and rubber. Will try some a fine amount of high temperature silicone gasket sealant, thought not too much. Let that set for about a day.
