    Recommendation needed please!

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi All,

I was given yet another coffee machine from a friend that didnt use it - a Sunbeam EM5800 and the thing just died. Did an electrical pop and now wont turn on.

So Ive decided to stop getting 2nd hand machines and just buy a new one, but Ive got no clue as to what to get! My budget at the moment is around $300 to $400 so if anyone can recommend anything that would be great.

    Cheers,

    Lauren

Lauren, I had a Breville Cafe 800 series (I think thats what they were called). It churned out pretty decent coffee for about 8 years, for a $400 outlay. I dont know what they are worth now, but it certainly ticked the boxes for me until I was in a position to bankrupt myself on coffee gear ;)

    Good luck.

    Hi Loz.

Target have a sale about to start for a Breville 800ES and a Breville BCG450 Grinder for $379. From what Ive read the grinder is pretty entry level but can be hot-wired, at your risk, to get a finer grind for espresso!

The machine itself appears to be a reasonable entry level machine from what Ive read on here. I was thinking of paying more and getting a Sunbeam 6910 but there just seems to be way too many problem threads on here with the 6910. Seems a toaster company trying to be too hi-tech, well for all I know anyway!

Hows this for the blind leading the blind? :D Post #2.

Or offload the grinder on evilbay, and put the money towards something a little more capable (i.e. Sunbeam EM0450/80, or possibly even a Breville Smart Grinder for a touch more $ again).

I had seen the one in the Target catalogue but wasnt sure if it was any good or not. I already have a Sunbeam EM480 grinder so thats not an issue there.

    Thanks all!
