Ikon BES 400 - blocked basket??

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    OK - gday all
Joined a while back and ended up buying a new Breville Ikon BES400 on ebay for $130.
Been great for that time - but hang my head in shame, it never got cleaned :-[
As a result it was blocked. Calcification i guess
Anyway - we sent it off to get repaired and picked it up yesterday
    Sort of got it working

I can get it to work with the single basket, but the doulbe seems blocked??
If I put the basket in the holder with no coffee in it nothing comes out?
It was only at the repair shop fore just over a week

Is there a way of soaking or do i just buy a new one??

I did a quick search and saw a Krups will fit
Gathering my Ikon baskets are pressurised and the Krups is non-pressurisred??

Save me looking - can some one tell me where i can get these?
    BES400 and Krups?

    I live in Abbotsford Sydney

    Thanks

Try using the frother cleaning pin to ream out the bottom hole in the double basket for a quick fix.

In my opinion the modified Ikon baskets are better than the Krups--so either cut off the bottom of the basket (a search of this site will show you how), or see the "Pay it Forward" thread for my basket exchange offer.

Yep, get rid of those things asap. Another good tip for the ikon (once you have those single wall baskets) is to grind off the bottom of the portafilter and turn it into a naked portafilter. Reason being the ikon portafilter, i found, was hard to clean and tainted the freshly made coffee.

I have searched and found the "Pay it Forward - summary" thread and a link to your bit but when i click on it i just go to the last page and cant see anything
I also cant see / find the link on modifying the baskets

As for grinding the portafiller to be naked - i will hold on that till i can pick up a spare. Reckon i would loose a lot of strength in the twisting department. I can see what you mean by the buid up, but.......

The link is now working better... However it was a post by me on Gregs request... It it not perfect and somtines one has to read and also between the lines ;D

When searching use the search tab (Menue L/H side at the top) and not the Quick search at the top R/H .
side.. Then read all the options as a search is a filter and does not have esp.. Options such as Time frame and posts vs subject all play a part if you wish to find what your looking for..

Now that you know ;D Go for it...
