Fix EM5900 or buy new EM4800C

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
My EM5900s steamer has stopped working and the unit sometimes remains quite hot even after being turned off for hours.

With not a lot of cash to work with I was wondering if it would be better to repair it or just buy an EM4800C which I can get for around $180.

    Any ideas.

    guessing its out of warranty?

why not save up just a bit more and keep an eye out for a machine in the "for sale" section on the site? Whats your max budget?

No cash. But we need coffee real quick.

Any one know how the EM5900 compares to the EM4800C?

Performance wise, they are quite similar.

One difference that comes to mind is that the group seal in the EM5900 is a longer lasting blue silicone seal.

The EM4800 is a white coloured one that doesnt last as long. I found it gets quite oily after 6 months even when the shower screen/seal is taken off each fortnight for a clean.

I think the collar material in the two machines are different. The EM4800 is plastic - and I think the EM5900 is made from metal.
