    Puck Wetness between machines

Using the same grind settings, I find that on my Gaggia Deluxe the puck is dry but on the Gaggia Baby the puck is very wet and sloshy despite packing the PF to the same level. Should I grind coarser or finer to get a drier puck? There is no channelling or holes on both pucks and the centre screw imprint is clearly visible. Extraction times on both machines currently about 20 secs before onset of blonding.

Do both machines have a clean operational three-way valve? Machines with a 3WV will have drier pucks than those without, and a clogged 3WV will be less effective than a clean one.

The G Deluxe only has 2 way and the puck is dry on this unit. The G Baby has 3 way (wet puck) but not sure how to clear it if it is clogged

When you turn off the brew switch after pulling a shot, you should get some water running into the drip tray near the back normally. Look carefully for this; if theres nothing the valve may be blocked.

    Hi Greg,
Dont think there is any water runoff on both machines. Occassionally I now get a dry puck, so maybe it could be the consistency of my tamping and grinds. Looks like I will really have to invest in a Pullman Tamper! :)
