My new Ristretto sounds like a machine gun

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hi all, finally took the plunge (so to speak) and bought myself a Sunbeam Ristretto to replace my plunger. Ive followed the instructions, filled up the water reservoir, let it heat up, pu tin the filter, and tried to run water through with no coffee. Unfortunately I get no water and the machine sounds like a machine gun. *:-[

The instruction book says a loud noise can be due to no water, or the reservoir not installed correctly but Im stuffed if I can see whatw wrong. Any suggestions? I made the mistake of getting all my coffee for this week ground for the espresso machine so I cant even use the plunger. *:(

I had the same problem when i first fired up my Ristretto. Turn it on, get it running (so it makes the hideous noise), then quickly (dont want to run it too long without water) apply pressure down on the water reservoir. I found when i did this, almost instantly i heard the noise decrease and water flow into the boiler.

Thanks Mitchell, got it in place with a bit more pressure in the right spot. Now I need to work out how to make a decent cup of coffee, first one went straight down the sink. ::)
