Cafe Roma - ticking loudly - problem?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi All,

Just wondering if any of you Cafe Roma people have heard a loud ticking (clicking) noise from your machine. It ticks about once every 30-60 seconds (after the machine has warmed up) and continues to do so even after the machine is turned off + power at the socket has been turned off...

The machine works OK - (quality of coffee aside) - but the ticking has me worried that it is on its last legs (2 weeks old come this weekend).

    Thanks

    Paul,

A continuous ticking, or just an occasional tick? Electrical relays tick when the thermostat tells the heating dooverlacky to turn on or off...? I also get some ticking that isnt related to the heating light coming on and off, which I assume must be due to metal expanding/contracting. Mine probably ticks about every 30-60 seconds when its left on. I wouldnt say its loud, although it was annoying my wife the other night (she kept going to turn the oven off).

    Cheers
    Stuart.

Paul, i cant offer to much in the way of feedback but reading your post you didnt mention if this ticking has only just started recently or has it done it always since new ?
If its something that has only just started then you may well have reason to be a little concerned.

    Hi Guys and thanks.

stuartgrant: it is not the heater as the ticking noise is not related to the heating light. it seems to keep its own rythm - starting to think it has something to do with the pump. It is much louder than the heating click noise and is internal. Does yours still click when the portafilter has been removed? And how long has yours been ticking for?

Banjo: 6 days into its new life ... the ticking starts.

    hmmm...
