    ACS Vesuvius - Power Requirement

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi Fellow CSers,

Does the ACS Vesuvius require a 15 Amp GPO? I'm currently currently considering this as my next upgrade. Thanks.

    Jason.

Thanks Chris. That does make things a whole lot easier. I'm guessing not all 2300W is drawn at the same time? Calculate current draw for 2300W works out to be

    2300/(0.8 x 230) = 12.5 Amps.

No need to use a PF of 0.8...
90% of the load is resistive.

Thanks for pointing that out Mal.
Assuming 100% resistive load, the power factor would be 1. Making the current draw at exactly 10 Amps. Would that be correct?

The machine is protected by a 10A fuse.

Keep in mind the Vesuvius remains in standby mode if you plan on using the built-in 7 day on/off timer. In which case it wouldn't hurt to add a little surge protection. I'm running one of these between my Vesuvius and the GPO (Thor C2 - Smart Filter Duo) - better than nothing I suppose...
