    Rocket R Nine One

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Might be of interest to some. Full review of the Rocket R Nine One including a look inside. At around $9500 it's obviously for a limited sector of the domestic market but interesting nonetheless.

According to his site he's sold 2 of 3 from his first allocation. A couple of really happy super Coffeesnobs out there I'd imagine.

Seems like the natural successor to the Vesuvius sitting on my bench, now to apply for that small home loan......

Yeah, can you drop it at my place when you've finished? Cheers.

OK, on a serious note, is the R91 pressure profiling programmable like the Vesuvius . I understand there are preset profiles but can you set up custom profiles?
It tank or plumbed in or both ?

You can use 5 preset slots, any of which can be customised, and thereís an additional manual slot. This last one works by recording your most recent fully manual pour and saving that as a profile.

In manual mode, the paddle is a full fly by wire proportional control. Otherwise when using preset profiles, itís a on/off switch.

You can also do volumetric dosing like a GS3AV

It supports tank and plumbed. Takes 2 seconds to switch over.

My old Rocket Giotto just celebrated its 10 year anniversary and looking for my next machine. I just checked the price: whoa, ~$9.5k puts it well outside the budget of my upgradomania cure.

Itís a black plastic grill that sits on top of the cup tray and stops the scuffing marks from the cups. Iíll take a photo of it when I get home from work.

Did you get yours from Auckland mate, or did you find one locally?

Have you noticed that some R91s have the gauge positions reversed?

Mines like yours with brew pressure at the top, but thereís plenty of pics online of the steam gauge at the top.

    It seems pretty random.

Yes I've noticed that as well, maybe the person on that machine that day just thought they would change it, or maybe it was a Friday afternoon.

Who wouldíve thought someone would be selling such an amazing machine in little old Napier?!! Haha! Although I guess thereís a pretty solid coffee scene there, and even better now that Bennyís opened Third Eye.

Yeah they get them from Caffe L'affare in Wellington who I think is the rocket importer for nz. Funny you talk about Benny, heís bought some coffee gear off me lately and has invited us to some cupping sessions at the new roastery which is looking pretty good.

Awesome! Thatíll be cool. Third Eye is looking pretty sharp from the photos Iíve seen. Iíve never met Benny personally, but heís a friend of a friend and seems like a good dude. Itís great for Napier to have someone so keen. (And yeah youíre right - Lafarre/Cerebos/Aitkens and their related companies like Atomic are the Rocket agents and distributors in NZ).
