Upgradeitis cured - Expobar unique model rebuild

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
So, as i was looking out for a grinder and i found this

and i thought that even though i couldnt find details of the model anywhere, with a cunill grinder and an e61 machine it was worth the jump! only problem with it is that the electronic controls on the machine are stuffed. However i have managed to get in touch with Paul, an HB member who lives in Christchurch, and he has invited myself and a couple of other friends who are also into their coffee machines round to his workshop today, which should be good. Anyway i picked up my new baby on friday night and here she is in all her glory!

    The face of my lady

Oooh hot and steamy shes taken off her top!

Nice big boiler... i think its 4L though im not sure

    lookit that e61 group!

Plenty of wires to sort through aye!

Still a wee way to go but after 4 hours of internal cleaning on friday night shes looking much happier!
Well, a bit of an upgrade from a solis but there we go. No more upgradeitis for me!

    Looking *forward to replies!

    Joel

PS. Not sure whether to put the post in extreme machine or pointy end, but as it is a commercial machine i decided that here might be more appropriate, feel free to move the post.

    Weird!

Here are the URLs Joel used (extracted from page source):

    http://www.home-barista.com/forums/userpix/2722_expobar_1.jpg
    http://www.home-barista.com/forums/userpix/2722_Expobar1_1.jpg
    http://www.home-barista.com/forums/userpix/2722_Epobar2_1.jpg
    http://www.home-barista.com/forums/userpix/2722_Expobar3_1.jpg
    http://www.home-barista.com/forums/userpix/2722_Expobar4_1.jpg
    http://www.home-barista.com/forums/userpix/2722_Expobar5_1.jpg

If I click on them, mostly I get the message TG mentioned, but sometimes
    a picture.

If I cut and paste directly into location field, I get a picture (with Safari,
    anyway).

    Nice machine BTW!

I had a laugh, No pictures(EDIT: one picture)! I was with Joel this afternoon fixing this machine with Paul Dalton, a Lever machine resstorer we met on HB. He has a lot of expertise on espresso machine restoration(lever machines in particular) and helped fix the Expobar, by replacing the volumetric controls with a manual switch; one for the solenoid, and one for the pump, so with positive mains pressure, you can switch the solenoid on to wet the puck with mains pressure(preinfusion), and then activate the pump with the second switch, to brew. We havent yet tested it, but it should work.

Just thought Id whet your appetite even more!

    Cheers, Mark
