    Leaking group heads

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all,
I recently notice that my group heads seep water when making an esspresso. What do you think may be causing this. I have a Rancilio Epoca 2 group head and it seems to be seeping from both heads. Any hepl would be great.

    Cheers David

First guess would be your seals. When were they last replaced? If the water is coming from between the group head and portafilter than thats it, otherwise can you be more specific about where the water is coming from.

    Re: Leaking group heads

Hi Mate, the machine is about 18 months old and usually pours around 4-6 coffees a day. I have not yet changed the sills so this may be the problem as you stated. The reason why I assumed there may be something else wrong is that both group heads leak and there is really only one group heap we ever use. The water that does seep comes from the in between the portafilter and the group head.

Any suggesstions where i can find new seals for this machine. I am in the northern Suburbs of Melbourne.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jackal,

You might try Grinders coffee who are the current importers or alternately try Mocopan...

    Good luck!

    Re: Leaking group heads

Jackal, another possible reason for the leakage could be that youre cramming too much grind into the portafilter, thereby preventing the portafilter to lock into place in the group. As an experiment, try less grind, lock the pf firmly in place, & giver her a whirl.

If it still leaks, totally disregard my theory and get the seals replaced! ;D

    cheers,
    Tony

David, 18 months seems pretty long between group seal changes. I change mine every few months before it becomes too hard & brittle. Theyre only a few bucks each so why not.
