gaggia coffee self priming valve - ng?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I was descaling my 8 year old gaggia coffee today and noticed something disturbing. *The polyproplene tube that comes off of the self priming valve was quite hot. *It has also turned white-ish for the last 5 cms from the bottom which sits in the water reservoir. *

Is this normal or a sign of the dreaded stuck pea valve? *Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This happens with my carezza at work. The water in the reservoir gets hot too.
