Brass Vs Stainless Boiler (Nemox Vs Saeco)

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Ive tried looking around for advantages/disadvantages on Brass Vs Stainless Boliers and havent found anything.

Just wondering on peoples views of these boliers.

The reason that I ask is that Im looking at purchasing either the Nemox Fenice Espresso machine or the Saeco Via Venezia. *The
1st has the Brass Bolier and piping, whereas the 2nd has Stainless.

The Nemox seems to be on par with the Rancilio Silvia.
Looking at spending about $1,000 for both Macine, Grinder and Tamper.
Usage would be 1-2 milk coffees per day, with the occasional extra few when friends drop over.

    Im in Melbourne.

All info would be most welcome..... *

By the way, this is an awsome site!

    Daniel.

    Hi Daniel and welcome,

I think you will find that most will recommend brass. Some stainless can pit at high temps with the wrong water. Pitting was even found in a couple of megabuck Synessos.

You may need to search long and hard to find a Nemox on a shop shelf somewhere. I was speaking to the Aust importer just the other day. They are not bringing any more in until the exchange rate against the Euro improves.

Another possibility is a Rancilio Silvia. Keep an eye on the Hardware for sale thread and you will eventually get yourself a bargain ;)

    Good luck...

    Hi
Brass has better heat retention too. Pitting in stainless, some believe caused by microbial corrosion. metal eating bacteria. a problem discovered in fighter jet fuel, bugs that can live in the fuel and eat the plane.
It is a big misconception that stainless steel doesnt rust. It sure does especially when scratched or calcium deposits.
