Looking for advice on a good tamper for the silvia, looking to spend around 40-50 bucks.
Also wanna find out if I should change the filter baskets on the silvia to a synesso ones (as Ive read in some forums) and what differences it will make.
Any advice much appreciated! :D
synesso basket = more coffee can be packed in the basket.
http://www.dibartoli.com.au/product_details.asp?pid=96 SS tamper $25.. leaving you another $25 to spend on the synesso basket + spring. :)
Pullman <<< has the basket and spring you would be after, and read about the tamps as well seen as you are half way there already
My budget doesnt allow for a Pullman :(
Any kind soul here willing to donate? :)
I can donate my tamper... *My sexy brown roundish tamper. *Need more info?.... *Its the plastic one that came free with the Silvia. *You pay for the shipping + postage insurance. [smiley=evil.gif]
Im pretty sure Ill get that too when I finally buy my Silvia. ;)
There are plenty of the stainless tampers found on Debotoli site and others they are a good solid unit and when u purchase ur Silvia see if they will throw in some synesson baskets and a blind filter (mine did). It makes a huge difference in quality of shot!! Good bang for buck!!
Make sure u read some of the reports on this site about temp surfing and boiler refilling before u get it too. The Silvia takes a bit to master but it is an awesome machine!! Also remember to make sure u get a good grinder with it too!! ;)
Get the baskets first if you arent having a tamper made. Then you can take them to the shops when you look for a tamper so you can find the best fitting one possible. Definitely get the synessos, makes a big difference to the coffee quality and gives you a greater margin for error.
