Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi all,

Seems the switch in the dial on my steamer has broken - the dial now comes off very easily but more importantly the steam is impossible to control - pouring out for ages before I can switch it off etc... not good!

SO I thought Id give the whole machine its first service in two years while I was at it - I just need a good honest repairer I can trust with the most important appliance in my life!

Do you guys recommend anyone in inner Sydney? Im in the Inner West but happy to cross town etc for the right repairers.

Cheers and heres to hoping Im not without coffee for too long!

The thing about Sunbeam Service Centres is that not all of them are trained to service the 6910s.

I read on here last year sometime that one of the unauthorised ones had ago at someones machine and it was a drama and a half. I understand Sunbeam were none too happy with his conduct.

The only "Authorised" Sunbeam repairer I know happens to be fairly close to you.
    Hes in Ashfield.

Hes serviced the work machine and Ive had a few chats with him.
He seems to know what hes doing.

Google "sunbeam repairers ashfield" and youll find him easy enough.

Ya.. In Brisbane we have one (Sparkies) and they are good but snowed under after X-mas... There is another, but they are not authorised and have not seen a good repair from them.

A few Em6910s came in and all issues were PEBFAG and supermarket beans..

One was in for its second collar change in under 12 months.... The owner must be on steroids... Has also broken the group handle and snapped the spouts... I saw teh collar and other bits... The spouts were actually malformed where they have been resting on a bench or what ever..

So many Auto and other machines it was not funny... Most were x-mas presents bought by well meaning family and friends but being used by people who think great coffee is a no brainer.

Even saw a few better machines being returned to other suppliers etc....

Without the right training and support, users have problems...

But importantly, the right service centre and service staff is also just as important... Way too many fly by night people out there at the moment..

I had a pretty average experience with the Adelaide Sunbeam Service Centre. Took nearly 3 months in total and several trips (40min drive each way).

Fortunately it is now working flawlessly, in fact am now sipping on a latte made with it. Its been sitting unused in the garage for a while so I thought Id stretch its legs in the office for a week while the Napoletana gets a well deserved rest/service.

Must admit that I forgot how good a coffee you can get from this machine.

When I had issues (and so too did my EM6910), Sunbeam got me to take it to an Authorised repairer at Seven Hills.

As we both know great coffee is "a no brainer", so long as one actually understands WTF they are after and can follow simple instructions...

of course, no set of instructions is lazy-proof.

Great coffee takes a bit of work, practice and care, but its not that hard.

There is one in Seven Hills who, while I havent used him, I get bits from him.

Knows his stuff that is for sure. If I had a problem too large I would happily drop it to him.

Having said that, I really think that with the help of the CS archive most problems can be overcome yourself.

The micro switches can be replaced very easily.
