    em6910 collar replacement

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hello

Ive just disassembled my Sunbeam em6910 to replace the group head collar that was leaking. I went to fit the new collar and discovered that the screw holes on the new part are smaller. Apart from the holes being smaller the only difference between the new and old collar is that the old collar has the letters VH cast into it and the replacement has VD

Have I inadvertently purchased the wrong collar? I rang Sunbeam to obtain the part number before I purchased the collar from the local dealer. The number I was given for the collar was EM69146. Does anybody know if this is correct?

In addition to the above the copper tube that connects the body of the group head (thermoblock?) to the solenoid was loose. Has any body else had this part come away before?

    Regards

I cant confirm because my Spare Parts List skips that number.
However that could just mean my list is old or that the number is on a different list.

Reading off a NEW one as I type...

    EM6910106 *approx $55

Do a search and find the extensive posts by Matrix and myself as to replacing the collar etc.. Lots of instructions and pics.

1: Where are you located ?

2: Get a licensed electrician to check the unit before turning back on

Im in Canberra. The local service agent only supplies parts and does not work on Sunbeam Machines.

I think the leak may have been from the copper tube that has come away and not the collar. How do I reattach the nipple? (See photos). It appears that nipple should be part of the thermo block and the collar is a captive part. *As the nipple has come away the collar is off also. Does this mean I need to purchase a new thermo-block? The problem seems to have occurred because the mounting lugs interfere with the collar when it is tightened.

    Re: em6910 collar replacement

Very helpful thread - thankyou to everyone.

I am writing to ask whether the process outlined in the EM6910 Collar Replacement Guide is the same for the EM6900?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    In essence teh same.

Problem can be that the new collar may have slightly different hole sizes as Sunbeam increased teh size of teh screws. Why, because the early ones did strip / pull out when people overdosed and forced things.

So if your screws are OK, you should be fine. But if any are stripped or corroded then get some new ones as well.
