Follow up to EM6910 Leaking Group Handle

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight

I decided to try the SB basket instead of the Synesso. I was surprised that there was no longer a leak ::)

I still up-dosed but the SB basket takes a bit less so that probably reduced the pressure somewhat - but the gauge went higher :o

    The grind was the same.

    Im thoroughly confused :(

The new Sunbeam baskets have a different profile to the top edge.
From memory theres a ridge or similar i.e. not flat.
Maybe thats the difference to your Synesso basket.

Regardless of the ridge, its possible that the top edge of the Sunbeam basket and the basket from coffee parts sits higher in relation to the lugs on the portafilter, compared to the Synesso basket.

In regards to the pressure, I think the Sunbeam basket has fewer (and perhaps smaller) holes than many other baskets. From memory its not a full grid pattern, but rather a grid with 1 in 4 (or 1 in 9?) holes filled.

My Expobar basket also doesnt cause leaking in the 6910.

wasnt there a reference on the Pullman site about the Synesso baskets causing problems with the 6910? (or is my mind playing tricks on me)

Right and wrong. There is a reference but it relates to an incompatibility with the single basket and the 6910 portafilter.
