Looking to try before I buy in Brisbane

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
My wife and I are looking to upgrade from a cheap Breville machine to something like a Silvia, but wed like to try the coffee before we buy if possible. We live in Brisbane and are happy to drive to a store anywhere in the city to sample something from a Silvia or comparable machines.

Does anybody have any tips for us?

Does a sponsor have a shop in Brisbane that we can visit?

I agree with KK... They may not have the full range of every machine, but provide good support for teh units they sell.

    Hi sbeacom,

Im in a similar situation to you by the sounds of things (cafe roma owner, looking to upgrade :-/, live in Brissy!). Would love to hear how you go with your local search, and what you decide on.

    Please keep us posted!

Ill be checking out some of those recommendations soon, in person. Ill post back my findings and the choice that my wife and I end up making... were keen to stay under the $1000 mark for the time being as jumping above that seems like too big a step right now.

In Brisbane as others have said Di Bella have a decent range of Isomacs, Nuova Simonelli and other good brands.

Grinders on Ann St are the only ones who seem to stock the Silvia in Brisbane. Unfortunately, they dont have a demo machine to try.

Di Bella do have demo machines and are more than happy to give you their undivided attention for a good hour or so to teach you how to use the machine, and show you their range etc. While youre there, be sure to pick up some of the golden bean winner of 2009: Ali Reserve, its a well balanced blend with nice acidity and plenty of body. Works really well in milk.

Thanks for the mention KK and AM :) You both have to come down some time for a coffee. Have a great range of orgins atm especially suitable for your pallet AM.

We have added the Alex Duetto II and Diadema machines to our range.

Expect to be landing a demo Silvia within the week. Quickly running out of room on the main bench so have started putting in "strategic locations" throughout the roastery.
