    Calc filter salt treatment

Ive been Told to to give my calc filter a salt bath by AM (or else). Curious to know if there are any rules - how salty, how long. Was thinking of leaving it to soak over night. Is that okay?

Warning for any one in Perth.. The water is not as nice as other places..

Every one should revisit ya water treatment schedule... Sooner rather than later.. But Perth / WA people do have it tough...

If you think WA has it bad, spare a thought for the poor folk of Eyre Peninsula!

I made the mistake of using my Sister-in-Laws espresso machine (a cheapie) twice while over there. I used mains water (tactical error - here @ home we have only rain water...). The second time, the PF was left on the machine for a couple of hours. The THIRD coffee didnt happen - the machine could not pump water through the PF!!

A long soak in vinegar to dissolve the salts rendered it operational again.

In Pt. Lincoln the Mitre-10 store sells tap washers in bags of 100! Water doesnt so much spray out of showerheads, it is more like extruded. Never seen anything so bad!

    Cheers
    /Kevin
