EM6910, group handle moving on brew

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
~2 yrs old machine, 1+ coffees per day.

The group handle moves left as Im brewing (ejecting itself) so I can no longer brew and steam at the same time. I need to hold the group handle still while it brews.

    seal, or collar? :)

excuse for purchase of bling machine? hah

I suspect its a combination of wear to the portafilter and the collar, check the under side of the PF lugs for wear, had a machine of mine do exactly the same thing years ago, was able to sort it out with some careful file work reducing the angle of the under side of the lugs, just dont take too much off or you will have another problem.
You could always buy another PF may well buy you some time, or if you know any one with the same machine (without the problem) you could perhaps borrow their PF to try.
Of course if your simply looking for an excuse to upgrade youve got one. ;)

    Hi JamesM,

My machine use to do this when it was new and i wasnt locking the portafilter in enough. My advice would be try locking it a bit more to the right then usual and see if there is any change.

Also what position are you locking it in at the moment? :-?

Have you changed the seal yet?
I have fixed this by just pulling the seal out and giving the surface a good clean occasionally.
Sounds like a good excuse for an upgrade though :)

Mine moves while brewing. Locking in at 5 oclock worked for a while. I think its a combination of collar wear and seal wear. I replaced the seal and it didnt help.

    Course of action; upgrade.
