hey all just wandering what product ppl use for descaling a Silvia. I was told to use Cafetto Restore- put 1 tsp in the group handle run for 5 seconds in blind filter (like backwashing) and leave for 15 minutes. then flush.

how does this sound?? never heard of descaling this way

    thanks all

Nope mmm- follow the instructions on the packaging. How the person who suggested that thinks the descaler is going to get to the boiler I dont know ::)

    Re: Descaling Silvia

Back flushing and descaling are two entirely different processes, heres a link describing descaling http://www.espressomyespresso.com/
The author uses citric acid, few on this site recommend it, in fact advise against using it.
There are a number of commercial preparations available from sponsors, I use Cafetto Restore to descale and Evo to back flush. :)

Quite possible if you use a carbon filter or the element has been pretty warm on occasion mmm...

Sounds like you have done well [smiley=thumbup.gif]
