Sourced Gaggia- Im a happy boy

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
after searching for an entry level Machine I think i found my bargin, while looking yesterday if found a Gaggia Classic in a large department store. With a sign "Missing Parts" hhhmmm What parts are missing ? the salesman said, with a sad look on his face its a thing called a Tamper, ( yep the plastic thow away one ) and the plastic end off the steam pipe. *How much, $ 200 bucks ! SOLD, also purchased the new Sumbeam 480 Grinder for $180. all up $380 for the lot. Made a couple of shots last night hmmm (Not good) but thismoring YEAH worked it out and had a couple of GREAT shots. Now i need to think about doing the rancilio steam wand mod and all should be good. Any one got an idea were i can get the rancilio wand from and how much.

Cheers all, Im off to try another extraction *;D

No plastic tamper or plastic off the steam pipe?

I think you got a bargain. Used Gaggia classics seem to go for $250-$300 on ebay (although the Gaggia Carezza only goes for $50-60 and IIRC the Carezza is only missing the three way valve that is on the Classic).

I just got my 17year old classic working again and it is a very nice machine if on a tight budget.
The small boiler can be a problem for some, but for low usage, I have no complaints.

Hopefully in two or three weeks, mine will have the PID modification completed as temperature variation can be an issue with the stock thermostat and I cant be bothered temp surfing when PIDs are so cheap (Im budgeting less than $50 for the whole installation).
