    Silvia descaling experience

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hi I live in Melbourne and I have had my Silvia for about a year. I recently descaled it for the first time using Cafetto Restore Descaler following the instructions on the back of the packet.

When I did it the water that came out was clear with no trace of anyting in it. I just want to know if this is normal because I have read that other people see small fragments in the water or is all the scale completely dissolved in the solution.

    Thanks

    Gday Paul.... :)

Has a lot to do with the quality of water going into your machine in the first place mate. If you use properly filtered water exclusively (lots of reading here... http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1245022813 ), then there probably isnt a lot of scale build-up taking place. From what Ive read, Melbourne water is quite soft so there mightnt be much to worry about..... 8-)

Melbourne water is excellent I recently replaced the element in my mums Audrey (same boiler as silvia) and found very little scale buildup after 10 years of hard use and abuse, although latley Ive had huge problems with scale buildup in lots of commercial machines including one with completely blocked injectors after less than 1 year

Might be due to all the rain over the last year or so, creating a peak in TDS for a while.... :-?
