Gaggia Baby Dose - pump failure?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
Hi all - my Gaggia recently stopped working after 3 or so good years of useage! It seems like the pump has given up the ghost. It makes all the sounds but nothing is being pumped through - well a few drops but nothing like it should be putting through.

Has anyone else had this problem - if it is the pump is it worth getting it replaced or shall I just look at investing in a replacement machine?

Its been a great machine for me twinned with the Sunbeam Cafe Series burr grinder.

    Somebody help please!! :)

My Gaggia Classic recently began exhibiting the same simptom. Any advice would be appreciated.

Failing trouble shooting myself (reasonably handy DIY guy) Looks like a trip to a service man - any suggestion on where in Melbourne....

    Cheers Rob

    Check the follow:

    1. Shower screen not block (undo this with a phillip screw driver)
    2. Distribution Disc (undo this with Allen Keys)

If water does not come after this could be the follow:
    1. Blockage on the line between boiler and group head (needs to take boiler a part and give it a clean.
    2. Solenoid not energizing to create pressure (replacement)
    3. Pump not pressurizing any more (needs new pump)

Does the pump note change when you switch on the brew? Like a low pitch rising after a few seconds to a steady hum? If so the pump is probably good as it is still pressurising and it will be a blockage or solenoid problem as Renzo indicated.

If the pump is OK you should also see water flow out of the return from the over pressure valve back into the tank.
