Delonghi ESAM 3000 upgrade - worth doing?

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight

I am new here and have a question,
I currently have a Sunbeam EM5600 (which is about 5 years old) and a Breville Bar Aroma BCG-450 grinder, both seem to do a pretty good job and we are quite happy with the results although I have an opportunity to upgrade to a brand new Delonghi ESAM3000 for $200......only catch is that it is missing the black plastic frothing nozzle....Is it worth upgrading to this machine? I would love to hear any opinions...thanks :-)

just my opinion but if you part with the current setup you have for that delonghi you will be miserable, fully auto machines just cant produce the same results as a manual machine.

    I second that :)

I find our Delonghi Magnifica at work (with exactly the same beans) makes cold, under extracted coffee with froth that cant even hold a sprinkle of cocoa. No opportunity to change the tamp pressure, dose amount, basket size, etc.

IMHO youre better off spending half the money on a heavy stainless tamper, maybe a naked pf to hone your technique, and modding the grinder to go a bit finer (or even spend $240 on a new smart grinder - woot!)

That is, if you like refining your technique... :)
