Sunbeam Cafe Series EM6900 repair manual

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
    Hi All
I want to get hold of a manual (not an instruction book), but a repair or workshop manual for this machine.
Apart from a few repairs I also want to paint the machine to match the new kitchen decor, so I need to take it apart so that I can spray paint the seperate panels.
Sunbeam will not come to the party, its funny, one can get repair manuals for much more complex machines than coffee machines but they seem to not want to help unless I am a registered repairer

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers Dermie

    Hi Dermie,

I dont know how much difference there is internally between the 6900 and 6910, but I have the service manual for the 6910.

I got this from another CS poster. Thanks to whoever it was.

That was more of a Parts list and exploded views...

1: I have not seen a true Service Manual for the SM6910 anywhere.

2: Setup information such as the Sweet spot on the Gauge ( Use an empty double walled PF and run ) *Or check steam delivery ( Set to default and run into a SS jug for 60 = approx 20ml of water) etc have all been obtained vis word of mouth etc.

I have a pdf that another CS member started as to disassembly - However it is not complete.

Once I get a delevery (due shortly) I will be pulling it down and will take shots etc. *Note: I am not a writer of manuals, so the final *product may be interesting.

Here is the file I mentioned.

Thanks folks I think I will give it a go now.
I have tried before but the removal of the two knobs on either side stopped me.

From memory a squeeze will unclip the outer knob casing and then a pull will do.
If at first you dont succeed squeeze again at 90 degrees different position.
    i.e North/South or East/West

    Edit: Spelling

Re: Sunbeam Cafe Series EM6900 repair manual

Unrelated question, but you seem quite knowledgeable on this machine:

I purchased this machine 2nd hand last year for $450NZD and the steaming mechanism never worked, doesnt make any noise and the hot water doesnt drips out just so but never hot enough...Espresso comes
out alright although I hardly used it the year I owned it.

Anyhow, more the point. I just sold this machine a few days ago for $250NZD and the buyer now demands a refund because it is NOT the E6910 I advertised but the E6900 and thus claims it is not worth the $250. I have no idea about the model or why he refused to check it when I asked him to before he took it away. Is there that much of a difference between the two?

Either way, is this machine worth anything with its faulty steaming mechanism? Is it repairable or worth the repair? Or is it just junk? I have seen quite a few of these on auction with similar problems.

Any enlightenment on this inquiry would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Sunbeam Cafe Series EM6900 repair manual

    sdloop,

The EM6900 had a lot of reliability issues one of which was the steam conking out. As its not under warranty, its probably not worth getting repaired.

If I was the buyer, I would be upset that it was an EM6900 if you advertised it as an EM6910. If it still makes espresso, its worth something to someone, but probably not $250.

Inconsequential to your original question, but did the buyer know about the steam problem before parting with their cash?

    What ACog said.

We had a problem with a 6900 here at work and Sunbeam tried to repair the steam pump once but it failed again within 5 days so they ended up giving us a new 6910.

If Sunbeam werent confident enough to have a second go at fixing ours I understand your buyers lack of confidence in the unit.

Depending on how this was managed - Auction site or local add...

Many would suggest that if the buyer picked the unit up... Then the responcibility to check as to the Model and Quality of teh goods resides with them as they had the oppertunity... The world wide auction house does not offer protection where the unit is a Pick up for that very reason...

1: Em6900 - Bay of Islands .... Whne next ya out fishing... Sorry...

2: Your call as to what you do... Moral Vs Ethical ....

Speeling police... Blackbery and no speel checker and FAT fingers..

If ya talking about the Steam and HW knob..

    YES..

They just pull off with little effort.. You just have to stand correctly and grasp in teh right manner..

But why would you be wanting to do this ?
