Bezzera BZ707 P single or Rancilio Silvia??

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I have decided it`s time to upgrade from my Saeco Gran Crema to one of the following, but i don`t have enough info on the Bezzera machine, i was all ready to order a Silvia & Rocky and acces. for about $1100 delivered and
I have just come across the Bezzera BZ707 P single, is the price rise in machines ( i know it`s alot) worth the extra $12-1300 without the grinder and acces.
    any input would help.
    cheers

    You mean Bezzera BZ07

You live in Brisbane so why dont you visit Barazi in Coopers Plains and try out both machines

Having said that the BZ07 is my choice & its worth the higher cost
Just the Automatic Boiler Refilling is worth its weight in gold
Plus you get a better Guarantee

I was only in to see the lads @ Barazi on Tuesday to drop in some of my home roast coffee and pick up some machine back flush & a group head seal ect

While I was there I had a bit of a play with some machines and the BZ07 is one nice machine

Is a Bezzera (spelling is correct) BZ99 for about $1200 2nd hand a good deal???
I am now moving into a territory where i am out of my depth.
any help would be appreciated, as mentioned earlier, had my mind made up on a Rancilio Silvia, but read there was an `09 model is that the `Miss Silvis`?? and now the Bezzera BZ99 2nd hand.
    now a little confused!

    Hi Lozzo,

If it comes with a warranty and has been checked over, yes, subject to condition...If not, perhaps its best to concede that you might be out of your depth to avoid the risk of big bills ;-)

    Hi Lozzo;

I will agree with 2mcm, the problem is that you do not have the history of the machine, when it was last service, back flash after 1 kg of coffee, filter water and etc.

If the machine is from one of the CS member or one of the sponsors will probably say go ahead, because I am a believer that most of the people in this forum care about their coffee and their machines.

For me when it comes to cars and coffee machines I buy new.

Any way good luck with the decision.

Re: Bezzera BZ707 P single or Rancilio Silvia??

The BZ99 is 6yrs old for $1250, comes from a sponsor with a 3 mth warranty, apparently has had little use in a household, not an office, in very good condition, well looked after and was a trade in for a new machine.
I forgot to ask if it had been serviced.
My heart says go for it, but my head says buy the Silvia & rocky for similar money, i don`t make m9ilk drinks, maybe once every 2 months when we have a BBQ.
Is it overkill to go for the BZ99.
My wife has capped my budget, when she found out i was looking at machines over $1500. :(
Any opinions on my dilemma, it`s bugging me a lot at the moment.
    cheers

    Hi Lozzo,

Why not consider an e-61 single boiler like the VBM Domobar (Piccolo)? It will be perfect for your requirements, has a smaller footprint and removes a lot of the quirks of the Silvia.

I reckon at that price and warranty is a good buy.

PS: Ask Jack or Chris to show you how to get the best of this machine. I have one at home

    BZ99 .... Just jump in !!!

Youll never regret joining this secret society and looking at machines dripping in bling in a totally irrational way. There a good chance your wife will never understand.

    good luck

    Thanks Hotshod
I tried to talk to her last night about it all and she glazed over, and kept saying `Do you really need to spend that sort of money`.
I have also decided i will get a Mazzer mini as well. This morning i decided it will be the 2nd hand BZ99 ( what a quick month that was).
I have another hobby of slotcar racing/collecting and it`s only taken 9 yrs for her to understand that, but i have been keen on coffee for as long as she has known me.

Until she tastes real coffee from fresh beans (that will do it every time)

Jordan most people dont know what coffee should taste like and they accept the mush served up to them (admittedly a handful of shops have great coffee but you could be looking a while)

Dont come back with an answer that she does not drink coffee ::)
