Fresh roasted beans in Melbourne for 6910

Gene Cafe Coffee Roaster $850 - Free Beans Free Freight
I am using Lavazza supermarket beans in my new 6910/0480 and they are about to run out. I will be in Melbourne over the next two days and was wondering if anyone could recommend somewhere to buy fresh roasted beans?

When I first used my machine the shots were quite good and the pressure was in the right spot, but now the pressure guage hardly moves, the shot is watery and there is no crema. Stale beans perhaps?

i used to live walking distance to these guys, good coffee IMO
they have normally 4 -5 varietes of beans on sale everyday

if your in the CBD you can take the Victoria st tram towards Abbotsford, it nearly stops on bond st (cnr bond and vic)
or just do the same in the car. if in the car they are on a one way st and you have to go past bond and round the block

    Veneziano Caffe

    22 Bond Street, Abbotsford
    Victoria 3067 Australia

and if you feel like Hong-Kong BBQ or Vietnamese noodle soup your in the right spot too :)

Not true anymore. Not for a while now.

Seven Seeds in Carlton roasts for BBB. Also another excellent source of fresh coffee.

    They sold St. Ali...

    Definitely recommend BBB/7 seeds.

You might want to store the coffee in a ziplock bag. They come in brown paper bags and go off pretty quickly.

Yes. I ordered some 7 Seeds coffee recently (for the first time) and it came in brown paper (plastic lined) bags. I was somewhat disappointed that the coffee was roasted a month earlier. Coffee still good but not at its prime.

Thats odd. Did you mention this to them at all? I know that the Seven Seeds crew take a lot of pride in their product.

As for the paper bags...nice to look at, but yeah, I dont think the beans last as long that way.

No, I didnt mention it to 7 Seeds, although I thought about doing so. Yeah, the paper bags are attractive but not ideal for storage. I guess the beans are degassed before packing.

How do you know they were roasted a month earlier?

Whenever I buy from them, I always ask when the coffee is roasted and at most, it is roasted 2 days ago.

Yeah, I have to say, I doubt they actually keep anything that long. I have had, on one occasion when they were really busy, had them accidently mark the roast date wrong. I watched the person writing out the label and they were distracted. Mistakes happen.

Well they usually check the date on the bag and tell me the date it was roasted so im pretty sure they were telling the truth everytime I bought from them.

Also I have aged some for over 10 days and it was perfect. So I doubt anything I bought is over a month old.

Re: Fresh roasted beans in Melbourne for 6910

Well, I bought three bags of different blends and they were each marked June 6 (I ordered them July 4 and received them July 9). But hey, maybe Im wrong and they marked that date by mistake: three times!

Oh dear, so they were all at the end of their lives when you received them. :(
Time for a new supplier. :)
